Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis profil Nature of Science (NOS) dalam topik interaksi makhluk hidup dan lingkungannya di Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif untuk menggambarkan Nature of Science (NOS)yang diikuti oleh 88 peserta darikelas 7a dan 7b, kelas 8a dan 8b, serta kelas 9a dan 9b Sekolah Menengah Pertama Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur sebagai sampel penelitian. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui instrumen isian singkat yang diberikan kepada siswa tanpa ada pembelajaran sebelumnya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, aspek tentative nature of science adalah aspek NOS yang paling banyak tercapai oleh siswa, sedangkan aspek creative and imaginative nature of scientific knowledge merupakan aspek NOS dengan persentasi pencapaian siswa terendah. Kondisi di Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur dapat mempengaruhi hasil dari profil Nature of Science (NOS) siswa bahwa latar belakang siswa yang datang dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia serta mata pelajaran seni budaya yang dipelajari di Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur adalah kondisi nyata yang dapat mempengaruhi profil Nature of Science (NOS) siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menyarankan para guru untuk melaksanakan kegiatan belajar mengajar dengan meliputi aspek-aspek Nature of Science (NOS) secara keseluruhanyang bertujuan untuk menyiapkan siswa agar siap menghadapi perkembangan teknologi dan pengetahuan di era modern ini. ;---The purpose of this research is to analyze the profile of students’ Nature of Science (NOS) on Interaction of Organisms and Its Environment Topic at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur that usually being forgotten to be included by the teachers in learning activity. This research uses descriptive method to describe the current condition of students’ Nature of Science (NOS) which isjoined by 88 participants of 7th a and 7thb, 8tha and 8th b, as well as 9tha and 9thb classes of junior high school students of Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur as the samples. The data in this research is obtained through aconstructed response test item that is given without any academical treatment before. The results show thatthe tentative nature of science aspect is the most achieve by the students, while the creative and imaginative nature of scientific knowledge possess the least achieve by students. The condition in Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur can affect to the result of students’ Nature of Science (NOS) profile that students’ background who come from various city from Indonesia as well as the art subject that is taught in Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur is the real condition that contribute to the results of students’ Nature of Science (NOS) profile. Moreover, this research suggest the teachers to execute learning activity that cover all of nature of science aspect in a way to prepare the students to be ready to face the advancement of technology and knowledge in this modern era.
