Abstract

Sains dikembangkan melalui proses untuk menghasilkan hipotesis dan mengujinya dengan data empiris. Pembentukan hipotesis sains Bumi dan Antariksa (BA) terkait dengan peristiwa masa lalu dan terkadang tidak berlaku universal, sejalan dengan karakteristik inkuiri abduktif yang bersifat retroduksi. Banyak penelitian tentang literasi dan keterampilan berpikir kritis, tetapi tidak berkaitan dengan merumuskan hipotesis, karena itu penting dilakukan pengembangan pembelajaran model inkuiri abduktif berbasis sistem akuisisi data multi parameter (MIA-BAD) untuk meningkatkan literasi BA (LBA), keterampilan berpikir kritis BA (KBKBA), dan penguasaan konsep BA (PKBA) calon guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed methods dengan embedded experimental model control group design. Subyek penelitian adalah peserta didik matakuliah IPBA semester genap 2014-2015, kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol masing-masing 30 peserta didik, yang ditetapkan secara purposive sampling. Teridentifikasi empat tipe abduktif peserta didik, yakni: abduktif model teoritik, abduktif eksistensial, abduktif faktual, dan abduktif aturan, melalui perumusan hipotesis ilmiah dengan perluasan dan pengaktifan pengetahuan awal, mencari penjelasan alternatif, dan prediksi tipe abduktif. Berdasarkan analisis CTT (Classical Test Theory), ternyata LBA, KBKBA dan PKBA meningkat dalam kategori sedang, dengan hubungan positif yang bermakna diantara ke tiganya. Berdasarkan analisis IRT (Item Respons Theory), model parameter logistik 1 PL dapat mengestimasi variabel laten dan menjamin parameter tes tidak bergantung pada subjek peserta didik, 47% peserta didik pada LBA, 57% KBKBA, dan 70% PKBA memperoleh kemampuan yang tinggi, dengan kemampuan LBA yang tinggi mempunyai kemampuan KBKBA dan PKBA yang tinggi pula. MIA-BAD membawa fenomena nyata kedalam kelas untuk dieksplorasi, dan memberi kesempatan peserta didik mengidentifikasi pengembangan pengetahuan fenomena yang diamati dengan penalaran abduktif. Hasil penelitian ini menyarankan ide-ide praktis tentang jenis pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk membantu peserta didik menghasilkan hipotesis ilmiah. Intervensi pembelajaran yang mempromosikan pengembangan dan penerapan metakognisi, akan meningkatkan aspek kognitif dan aspek motivasi abduksi pada MIA-BAD. Perlu penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mengidentifikasi kinerja peserta didik secara mandiri dalam merumuskan dan mengevaluasi hipotesis alternatif. Science was developed through the process of hypotheses generate and test with empirical data. Hypothesis formation of earth and space science (ESS) associated with past events and sometimes it is not universally applicable, in line with the abductive inquiry characteristics which retroduction. There have been many studies on literacy and critical thinking skills, but not related regarding the establishment of the hypothesis. Therefore it is important to the development of learning programs abductive inquiry model based on data acquisition system (AIM-BDA) to improve ES literacy (ESL), ES critical thinking skills (ESCTS), and ES concepts mastery (ESMC) of prospective teachers. This study used mixed methods with embedded experimental models control group design. Subjects were students of ESS course 2014-2015 even semester. The experimental class and control class each consists of 30 students, assigned with purposive sampling. There were identified four abductive hypotheses types of students, namely: theoretical-abductive, existential- abductive, factual-abductive, and rule-abductive models, with the formulation of scientific hypotheses through expanding and activating background student’s knowledge, seeking alternative explanations, and predicting abduction pattern. Based on the CTT (Classical Test Theory) analysis, ESL, ESCTS, and ESMC have been increased of the medium category, with a significant positive relationship between their third. Based on the IRT (Item Response Theory) analysis, 1 PL model parameter logistic could estimate the latent variables and ensure parameter test did not depend on the student subject, 47% students of ESL, 57% of ESCTS, and 70% of ESMC obtain high ability, which an ESL high ability had the ESCTS and ESMC high ability too. AIM-BDA brings the real phenomenon into the classroom to be explored, and provide opportunities to develop knowledge students identify the phenomena observed with abductive reasoning. Results of this study suggest practical ideas about the kind of learning that can be used to help students to produce scientific hypothesis. Instructional interventions that promote the development and application of student’s metacognition, it will improve cognitive and motivation aspects of abduction at AIM-BDA. There need more research in order to identify the students performance independently in formulating and evaluating alternative hypothesis.
