Abstract

Pembelajaran di salah satu SD di Kecamatan Sukajadi terhambat oleh keadaan-keadaan berikut: (1) siswa hanya mendapatkan sedikit kesempatan untuk melakukan percobaan/pengamatan dalam pembelajaran sehari-hari; (2) fasilitas belajar kurang memadai, sehingga siswa, dengan beragam cara belajarnya, mengalami keterbatasan saat mengolah data yang didapatkan; (3) siswa kurang memahami materi pembelajaran sebelumnya, sehingga mereka tidak memahami tujuan percobaan/pengamatan yang dilakukan. Keadaan-keadaan tersebut melatarbelakangi penelitian ini. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian adalah mencari tahu peningkatan keterampilan proses siswa setelah pendekatan pembelajaran saintifik diterapkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang mengacu pada desain penelitian Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang terdiri atas dua siklus. Langkah-langkah penelitian terdiri atas perencanan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan lima instrumen, yakni: (1) rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran; (2) lembar observasi perencanaan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran; (3) lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa yang berkenaan dengan pendekatan saintifik; (4) lembar kerja siswa; dan (5) lembar instrumen penilaian siswa. Berdasarkan data pada siklus I, keterampilan proses siswa dalam aspek observasi adalah 70,8%, dan dalam aspek komunikasi 68,6% dengan ketercapaian nilai hasil belajar di bawah KKM, yaitu 69,7. Pada siklus II keterampilan proses siswa dalam aspek observasi mengalami peningkatan sampai 87,9%, dan dalam aspek komunikasi meningkat sampai 84,1% dengan ketercapaian nilai hasil belajar di atas KKM, yaitu 86. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan saintifik dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar. Guru yang akan menerapkan pendekatan saintifik dalam pembelajaran dianjurkan agar memperhatikan alokasi waktu, pengondisian kelas, dan keterlibatan siswa selama pembelajaran. --- The lesson in one Elementary School in Kecamatan Sukajadi is obstructed by these situations: (1) the students only have a slight opportunity to experiment and to observe in class; (2) the insufficiency of facilities hinder the students, with all of their study habit, to process acquired data; (3) the students do not have enough understanding of previous course that they unable to understand the objective of the experiment or the observation. That situations are the background of this research. Therefore, the objective of this research is to find out the students’ processing skills improvement after scientific approach learning implemented. Research method employed here is Classroom Action Research models which based on Kemmis and Mc Taggart’ research design, that consist of two cycles. There are four steps in this research, that is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. There are five instruments used in this research: (1) grade benchmark; (2) the grade benchmark observation sheet; 3) the teacher and student’ activity observation sheet; (4) the students worksheet; and (5) the students performance assessment sheet. Based on data in cycle I, the students’ processing skills is 70,8% in observation aspect and 68,6% in communication aspect, with grade achivement lower than minimum performance level, that is 69,7. In cycle II the students’ processing skills improves, in observation aspect up to 87,9% and in communication aspect up to 84,1%, with grade achivement higher than minimum performance level, that is 86. The conclusion of this research is scientific approach learning is able to improve third grade students’ processing skills. Teacher who will implement scientific approach learning is suggested to take consideration at time allocation, class conditioning, and students’ involvement in class.
