Abstract

Hakikat sains merupakan cara berpikir yang paling mendasar yang dibutuhkan dalam pendidikan sains. Di Indonesia, melalui kurikulum 2013 generasi muda Indonesia dididik untuk menjadi seseorang yang memiliki pemikiran tingkat tinggi sehingga dapat mewujudkan tujuan pembelajaran sains yakni literasi ilmiah. Penelitian ini melihat pengaruh penggunaan pembelajaran berbasis hakikat sains melalui isu sosiosaintifik terhadap pandangan siswa SMA tentang hakikat sains dan pengambilan keputusan. Tujuh aspek hakikat sains yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berdasarkan Lederman et al. (2002) yaitu pengetahuan ilmiah berdasar empiris, pengetahuan ilmiah bersifat tentatif, aspek sosial dan budaya yang melekat dalam pengetahuan ilmiah, hakikat kreatif dan imajinasi dalam pengetahuan ilmiah, hukum dan teori ilmiah adalah hal yang berbeda, ilmuwan menggunakan banyak metode untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan ilmiah, sains merupakan aktivitas sosial yang memiliki hubungan subjektivitas dan teori-laden. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI MIA di SMAN 4 Kota Bandung. Desain penelitian adalah pretest-posttest design. Data dijaring menggunakan instrumen View of Nature of Science Questionnaire B yang dikembangkan dan diadaptasi oleh Lederman et al. (2002) dan kuesioner Decision-Making Questuonnaire yang diadaptasi dari Bell & Lederman (2003) dan menggunakan pendekatan yang disesuaikan dengan kerangka berpikir pengambilan keputusan yang dikemukakan oleh McDaniels et al. (1999). Data yang didapatkan dikelompokan berdasarkan jawaban siswa menjadi naïve, intermediary dan informed. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan adanya peningkatan pandangan informed hakikat sains pada aspek tentatif, kreatifitas dan imajinasi dan sosial budaya setelah dilakukan pembelajaran berbasis hakikat sains melalui isu sosiosaintifik. Hasil lainnya hanya sebagian siswa yang menyisipkan aspek hakikat sains dalam keputusan (tentatif, kreatif, subjektivitas, sosial budaya). In Indonesia, science curricula 2013 science teaching was adressed to higher order thinking skills to made student have scientific literacy. This study investigated the effect of the use of nature of science based learning through socioscientific issue of the high school students' views on the nature of science and decision-making. Seven aspects of the nature of science that appears in understanding concepts by Lederman et al. (2002), scientific knowledge based on empirical, scientific knowledge is tentative, scientific knowledge is the result of creative thinking, scientific laws and theories are different things in scientific knowledge, scientists use many methods to develop scientific knowledge, social and cultural embedded, science is a social activity that has a relationship of subjectivity and theory-laden. Participants of this study were students of grade XI science program at SMAN 4 Bandung. Student were taught by applying pretest and posttest design. Instruments View of Nature of Science Questionnaire form B developed and adapted from Lederman et al. (2002) was used to captured student’s view of nature of science and the Decision-Making Questionnaire adapted from Bell & Lederman (2003) and used an approach to make a framework for decision-making by McDaniels et al. (1999) to captured student’s decision-making. Data obtained by the students' answers were grouped into naïve, intermediary and informed. These results indicated that stuents’ view of the nature of science through socioscientific issue was increased especially aspect of tentative, social & cultural embedded and creativity & imagination. In the other hand, only some students who apply the nature of science aspects in their decisions (tentative, creative, subjectivity, social and cultural embedded).
