Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fakta di lapangan yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa belum sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Salah satu faktor yang dapat menyebabkan hal tersebut adalah pembelajaran yang belum berorientasi pada pemberdayaan potensi otak siswa. Strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk mengoptimalkan potensi otak siswa adalah melalui pembelajaran dengan Brain-based Learning (BbL). Selain itu, pembelajaran melalui BbL juga dapat mereduksi kecemasan matematis siswa, karena pembelajaran ini diselaraskan dengan cara kerja otak yang didesain secara alamiah untuk belajar, serta lebih mengutamakan pada kesenangan dan kecintaan siswa akan belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen, dengan populasi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Cijeungjing Ciamis yang terdiri atas delapan kelas dan diambil dua kelas sebagai sanpel penelitian. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari hasil pretes dan postes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis, serta kecemasan matematis siswa yang selanjutnya diolah secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa melalui BbL lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa; 2) kecemasan matematis siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran matematika melalui BBL lebih rendah daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran biasa. ---------- This research is motivated by the facts on the ground which indicates that the critical thinking and creative thinking mathematically skills students have not been as expected. One of the factors that can cause this is not oriented learning on brain development potentialof the student. Strategies that can be used to optimize the potential of the brain is through the learning of students with Brain-based Learning (BbL). In addition, this learning is aligned with the workings of the brain that are designed by nature to learn, as well as more emphasis on enjoyment and loveof the students will learn. The method used isa quasi-experimental, with a population of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Cijeungjing Ciamis consisting of eight classes and taken two classes as sample research. The quantitative data obtained from the results of pretest and postest critical thiking and creative thinking mathematically skills, as well as students’ mathematical anxiety is furthe processed by descriptive and inferential. The results showed that: 1) the increase in critical thinking and creative thinking mathematiclly skills students through BbL better than students who received the usual learning; 2) students’ mathematical anxiety that gets the learning of mathematics through BbL lower than studens who received regular learning.
