Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Kajian Organologi Instrumen Gambus Selodang Buatan Tengku Firdaus di Kecamatan Sungai Apit kabupaten Siak, Riau. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kriteria pemilihan bahan baku dan proses pembuatan instrumen gambus selodang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan informasi tentang organologi dan akustik gambus selodang buatan Tengku Firdaus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Melalui metode tersebut diperoleh data tentang kriteria pemilihan bahan baku dan proses pembuatan gambus selodang. Kriteria bahan baku yang digunakan meliputi jenis dan kualitas bahan, pemilihan bahan, ukuran yang diperlukan,serta kegunaannya dalam pembuatan gambus selodang. Data lainnya meliputi penggunaan kayu nangka, kulit kambing, dawai gitar, dan sistim penalaan dawai, serta makna dibalik ornamen gambus selodang. Proses pembuatan gambus selodang terdiri dari lima tahap yaitu tahap awal, tahap proses pembuatan, tahap pengeringan, tahap pembuatan komponen lainnya, dan tahap akhir. Data penelitian tersebut, selanjutnya peneliti bahas dari sisi organologi dan dilengkapi dari sisi akustik. Kata kunci: Organologi, Gambus Selodang. This research is, entitled Study of Gambus Selodang Instruments organological made in Tengku Firdaus at Sungai Apit, Siak district, Riau. The problem in this research is the criteria of selection of raw materials and manufacturing processes gambus selodang instrument. The purpose of this research is to get information about organological and acoustic Tengku Firdaus’s gambus selodang instrument. This research uses descriptive method of analysis with a qualitative approach. Data obtained through such methods on the criteria for selection of raw materials and manufacturing process gambus selodang. Raw materials used criteria include the type and quality of materials, selection of materials, the required size, and its use in the manufacture of gambus selodang. Other data include the use of jackfruit wood, goatskin, guitar strings, strings and tuning systems, as well as the meaning behind the ornaments gambus selodang. Gambus selodang making’s process consists of five stages: the initial stage, the stage of the manufacturing process, the drying stage, the stage of the manufacture of other components, and the final stage. The data of the study, the researchers further discussed in terms organological and features of the acoustic side. Key word: organology, gambus selodang
