Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan bahan ajar IPA SMP pada tema ‘Energi dalam Tubuh’ dengan menggunakan metode 4S TMD (Four Steps Teaching Material Development). Tema ‘energi dalam tubuh’ dipilih karena konsep ini sangat dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari siswa. Konsep ini pun sesuai dengan tuntutan standar isi pada kurikulum IPA tingkat SMP. Materi disajikan secara terpadu sehingga memacu siswa untuk berpikir secara holistik dan kontekstual.Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan R&D (Research and Development). Dalam penelitian dan pengembangan yang ini, digunakan metode 4S TMD(Four Steps Teaching Material Development).Metode 4S TMD merupakan metode pengembangan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan oleh Sjaeful Anwar. Terdapat empat tahap yang dilakukan pada pengembangan bahan ajar, yakni tahap seleksi, strukturisasi, karakterisasi, dan reduksi didaktik. Tahap seleksi meliputi pemilihan indikator yang sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum yang kemudian dikembangkan dengan pemilihan konsep dan nilai yang diintegrasikan dengan konsep IPA. Pada tahap ini digunakan tujuh buku teks dasar dan umum sebagai buku sumber. Hasil dari tahap seleksi yaitu diperoleh dua kompetensi dasar yang kemudian diturunkan ke dalam 9 indikator yang sesuai dengan tema. Nilai yang dikembangkan dan diintegrasikan dengan konsep berupa nilai religius dan nilai rasa ingin tahu. Tahap strukturisasi meliputi pembuatan struktur makro, peta konsep, dan multipel representasi dari materi. Tahap karakterisasi meliputi penyusunan instrumen karakterisasi, kemudian uji coba kepada 40 siswa salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung untuk mengidentifikasi konsep sulit. Tahap karakterisasi menghasilkan data bahwa dari 19 bagian materi, 14 materi dikategorikan mudah, sementara 5 materi dikategorikan sulit. Tahap terakhir, yaitu reduksi didaktik konsep terhadap konsep sulit. Reduksi didaktik yang dilakukan berupa pengabaian dan penggunaan penjelasan berupa sketsa. Hasil uji aspek keterbacaan (keterpahaman) bahan ajar menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa berdasarkan penentuan ide pokok, keterbacaan bahan ajar mencapai 67%, dengan kriteria keterbacaan sedang. Hasil uji aspek kelayakan berdasarkan hasil angket terhadap 11 orang guru menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa secara keseluruhan tingkat kelayakan bahan ajar mencapai 91% dengan kriteria kelayakan baik. Kata-kata kunci: bahan ajar,energi dalam tubuh, 4S TMD This research aims to produce science teaching materials in junior level on the theme 'Energy in the Body' using 4S TMD (Four Steps Teaching Material Development). The theme of 'energy in the body' was chosen because the concept is very close to the daily lives of students. This concept was in line with the demands of the science’s curriculum content standards in junior level. The material is presented in an integrated manner, so as to spur students to think holistically and contextually. The method used in this study is a research and development R&D (Research and Development). In research and development, the method is used 4S TMD (Four Steps Teaching Material Development). 4S TMD is a method of development of teaching materials developed by Sjaeful Anwar. There are four steps done on the development of teaching materials, namely the selection phase, structure, characterization, and didactic reduction. Selection phase includes the selection of indicators in accordance with the demands of the curriculum which is then developed with the selection of concepts and values that are integrated with the concept of science. At this stage it is used seven basic text books and general as a source book. Results of the selection phase is obtained by two core competencies are then lowered into 9 indicators are in line with the theme. Value which is developed and integrated with the concept are religious value and curiosity value. Structuring phase of the material includes the manufacture of macro structure, concept maps, and multiple representations. Characterization's phase includes preparation of characterization instruments, then a trial to 40 students one junior high school in Bandung to identify difficult concepts. Phase characterization produce data that from 19 parts of the material, 14 materials is categorized easily, while 5 classified materials is difficult. The last stage, namely the didactic reduction of the concept difficult. Didactic reduction is done in the form of neglect, and the use of an explanation in the form of sketches. The test results readability aspect instructional materials lead to the conclusion that by determining the main idea, the legibility of teaching materials reached 67%, with moderate readability criteria. Test results of feasibility aspects based on the results of questionnaires to the 11 teachers lead to the conclusion that the overall, level of eligibility teaching materials reached 91% with the eligibility criteria well.
