Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa permasalahan siswa dalam kegiatan bekerjasama. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada hasil observasi awal yang menunjukkan siswa belum mampu saling bertukar pendapat, belum dapat menerima dan menghargai pendapat orang lain dan belum mampu menyelesaikan tugas secara bersama-sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran pelaksanaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together pada pembelajaran IPS dan mendeskripsikan perkembangan kemampuan bekerjasama siswa pada pembelajaran IPS dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan model Kemmis dan Taggart sebanyak dua siklus yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa lembar observasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran, lembar observasi kemampuan bekerjasama, field notes, dokumentasi dan kuesioner. Kemampuan bekerjasama siswa meningkat setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together. Pada siklus I kemampuan bekerjasama siswa mencapai 64,42% dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 90,38%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bekerjsama siswa pada pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran bagi Guru SD bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together dapat diimplementasikan pada pembelajaran IPS . This study is motivated by several challenges faced in cooperative learning. These challenges, as shown by the initial observation, include the inability of students to exchange their views, respect each other’s opinions, and work in teams. This study aims to provide an overview on the implementation of Numbered Head Together (henceforth NHT), a cooperative learning strategy, in social sciences (Indonesian: Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial/IPS) classroom. Moreover, it also aims to explore NHT’s potential for developing students’ cooperative skills. To achieve these aims, it employs Kemmis and McTaggart’s two-cycle approach to Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of four steps, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Besides that, it also uses several instruments, viz. learning observation sheets, cooperative skill observation sheets, field notes, documentation, and questionnaire. The results of this study show that after the implementation of NHT, students’ cooperative skill scores have improved. The scores continue to improve from 64.42% in the first cycle to 90.38% in the second cycle. Thus, based on the findings, it can be concluded that NHT is effective in developing students’ cooperative skills in IPS classroom. Finally, it is expected that this study can increase primary school teachers’ understanding of how NHT can be implemented in IPS classroom.
