Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami isi bacaan dan memahami perintah soal yang diberikan oleh guru. Dan setelah menganalisis hasil belajar dalam menemukan kalimat utama, masih banyak siswa yang nilainya belum mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Sehingga penelitian ini difokuskan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dengan menerapkan metode SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk perencanaan, proses pelaksanaan dan mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman setelah menerapkan metode SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review). Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus dengan menerapkan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas serta menggunakan model pembelajaran yang diadaptasi dari model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV dari salah satu SD Negeri dalam kawasan Asrama Polisi Sukajadi yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan, nilai rata-rata siswa pada siklus I sebesar 62,47, kemudian pada siklus II sebesar 73,41, dan pada siklus III meningkat menjadi 87,66. Begitupula pada persentase (%) ketuntasan belajar siswa, yang pada siklus I hanya mencapai 48% , siklus II menjadi 72%, dan pada siklus III meningkat menjadi 96%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, maka peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa metode SQ3R dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, direkomendasikan metode SQ3R dapat terus diterapkan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. The background of the study is the lack of students’ ability in comprehending texts and understanding test instructions provided by teachers. After analyzing the learning results of discovering the main sentences, there have been found many students whose grades do not meet the minimum completeness criteria (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal). Thus, this research aims to increase the students’ reading comprehension ability by applying SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method. This study aims to describe the forms of the implementation, the process of the implementation, and to discover the increased reading comprehension ability after the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method is applied. This study is conducted in three cycles by applying Classroom Behavior Research method and by using learning mode adopted from Kemmis and Mc. Taggart modes. The subjects of the study are 25 fourth grader students from one of public schools in the dorm of Sukajadi Police area. The findings of the study show that there is increase, in which on average, grade that the students get in the first cycle is 62,47, while it increases to be 73,41 in the second cycle, and in the third cycle, it is 87,66. So does what happen to the percentage (%) of students’ learning completeness, in which in the first cycle, it is only 48%, while in the second cycle it becomes 72%, and in the third cycle it reaches 96%. According to the findings, the researcher concludes that SQ3R method can increase students’ reading comprehension ability. Hence, SQ3R method can be continually applied in learning activities.
