Abstract

Instrumen asesmen yang valid dan reliabel diperlukan untuk menunjang proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan dan menerapkan tes diagnostik untuk mengukur kemampuan materi optika geometri dan esensi inkuiri sains mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Metode campuran kualitatif dan kuantitatif digunakan dalam mengembangkan tes diagnostik selama lebih dari dua bulan proses perkuliahan optika geometri yang melibatkan 85 mahasiswa LPTK Negeri di Sumatera Utara. Instrumen tes diagnostik didisain terlebih dahulu, disempurnakan selama proses, direvisi, dan digunakan untuk mendeteksi dan menilai kemampuan esensi inkuiri sains dan materi optika geometri. Tiga puluh butir dan dua puluh butir soal instrumen tes diagnostik telah dikembangkan untuk mengukur kemampuan esensi inkuiri sains dan konten optika geometri mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Setiap butir soal dirancang memiliki tiga tingkat, tingkat konten (content tier) mengukur kemampuan konten optika geometri atau esensi inkuiri sains; tingkat alasan (reason tier) mengukur kemampuan penjelasan atau eksplanatori pengetahuan yang mendasari memilih salah satu jawaban; dan tingkat kepercayaan (confidence tier) untuk mengukur derajat keyakinan dalam menentukan jawaban dan alasan yang dipilih. Versi akhir instrumen tes memiliki indeks reliabilitas Cronbach alpha untuk tes inkuiri sains 0,87 (keajegan tinggi) dan untuk tes materi optika geometri 0,83 (keajegan tinggi). Bukti validitas diperoleh dari pertimbangan tiga dosen pakar dan analisis teknik korelasional antar skor validator untuk memperlihatkan validitasnya. Indeks korelasi antar validator untuk tes esensi inkuiri sains 0,71 (validator 1 dan 2) dan 0,82 (validator 2 dan 3), untuk tes konten 0,73 (validator 1 dan 2). Nilai-nilai indeks korelasi ini menunjukkan validitas yang baik. Kata kunci: Tes diagnostik, pilihan ganda, inkuiri sains, optika geometri It is necessary to produce a valid and reliable assessment instrument to support learning process. This study aimed on the development and application of a three-tier multiple-choice diagnostic test to measure students’ ability essential features of scientific inquiry and content of geometrical optics. A mixed method quantitative and qualitative was conducted to develop diagnostic test over two months involving 85 students pre-physics teachers in the lecturing process of geometrical optics at a University of Teachers Education in North Sumatera. The diagnostic test instrument was designed and then progressively refined, revised, and implemented to detect and assess students’ ability essential features of scientific inquiry and content of geometrical optics. A 30-item and a 20-item three-tier multiple choice diagnostic test instruments was developed to measure knowledge of essential features of scientific inquiry and content geometrical optics of pre-service physics teacher students. Each item of test question comprises the content tier, which measures the ability of content geometrical optics or features essential inquiry; the reason tier, which measures explanatory knowledge underlying choose one of the answers; and the confidence tier, which measures the strength of confidence in determining the selected answers and reasons. The final version of the instrument had Cronbach’s alpha reliability of 0.87 (high reliability) and 0.83, respectively, for essential features of scientific inquiry and content of geometrical optics. The evidence of validity was derived from a judgment of three expert lectures. Correlational technique analysis among three validator scores was used to showing validity. Correlation index between validators for the test essential features of scientific inquiry were 0.71 (validator 1 and validator 2), 0.82 (validator 2 and validator 3), and 0.73 (validator 1 and validator 2) for the content test.
