Abstract

This research investigated the effect of flap poster towards students’ creativity and understanding in learning human respiratory system. The method which was used in this research is experimental research with matching pretest-posttest comparison group design. The sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique in experimental class (n=17 students) and control class (n=17 students) with the population of 8th grade students in a Private International School in Bogor. The quantitative data of this research was obtained through objective test, while the supportive qualitative data was gathered through rubric and questionnaire. Based on the analysis of the results, it shows that students’ creativity in experimental class is higher than control class. It indicates that creating flap poster can facilitate students to explore their creativity. The normalized gain results for students’ understanding are 0.56 and 0.40 in experiment and control class, respectively. Thus, both of experiment class and control class are categorized into medium improvement. The result also indicates the concept of breathing mechanism as the most well understood concept by students after creating the flap poster with higher gain between pre test and post test score. Overall, the students in experiment and control class show good impression of all indicators in both different learning media. The research indicated when flap poster was implemented in learning Human Respiratory System, experiment class has outperformed in all creativity dimensions also in students’ understanding rather than control class. Penelitian ini menyelidiki pengaruh flap poster terhadap kreativitas dan pemahaman siswa dalam mempelajari sistem pernapasan manusia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan disain pretest-posttest grup perbandingan. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan menggunakan tehnik cluster random sampling dalam kelas eksperimen (n=17 siswa) dan kelas kontrol (n=17) dengan populasi siswa kelas 8 di Sekolah Swasta Internasional di Bogor. Data quantitatif dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan tes objektif, sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh dengan menggunakan rubrik dan kuisioner. Berdasarkan analisis, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kreativitas siswa di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Hasil normalized gain yang diperoleh di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol secara berurutan adalah sebesar 0.56 dan 0.40. Dengan demikian, baik kelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol dapat dikategorikan dalam peningkatan medium. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa mekanisme pernapasan adalah konsep yang paling dipahami dengan baik oleh siswa setelah membuat flap poster. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan perolehan teratas dalam skor pretest dan posttest baik di kelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol. Secara keseluruhan, siswa di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menunjukkan kesan yang baik pada semua indikator dari kedua media pembelajaran yang berbeda. Penelitian ini mengindikasikan ketika flap poster diimplementasikan dalam mempelajari Sistem Pernapasan Manusia, kelas eksperimen memperoleh hasil yang lebih baik dalam semua dimensi kreativitas dan pemahaman siswa dibandingkan dengan hasil yang diperoleh di kelas kontrol.
