Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh asumsi yang menyatakan salah satu faktor yang memengaruhi pembentukan aspek identitas diri adalah adanya figur yang menjadi model. Selebriti televisi diidentifikasi sebagai salah satu model utama yang memberikan pengaruh baik positif maupun negatif terhadap sikap remaja. Secara umum penelitian dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui kontribusi modeling terhadap identitas diri siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 9 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan studi deskriptif, desain statistik korelasional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan kriteria, sampel penelitian ditetapkan sebanyak 282 siswa dari poulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat kontribusi positif dan signifikan antara modeling dengan pencapaian aspek pembentuk identitas diri ideologi maupun interpersonal. Meningkat atau menurunnya pencapaian aspek pembentuk identitas diri siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 9 Bandung salah satunya dipengaruhi modeling yang dilakukan siswa terhadap tokoh idola di televisi. Selain itu, kontribusi modeling dengan aspek identitas interpersonal lebih besar dari pada kontribusi modeling dengan aspek identitas ideologi, artinya proses mengamati (atensi), menyimpan informasi (retensi), meniru perilaku (produksi), dan mencocokan perilaku (motivasi) yang dilakukan siswa terhadap tokoh idola di televisi, akan lebih memengaruhi pencapaian aspek pembentuk identitas interpersonal yaitu persahabatan, kencan, peran jenis kelamin, dan rekreasi. Implikasi penelitian berupa rancangan layanan dasar bimbingan dan konseling untuk memfasilitasi siswa dalam pembentukan identitas diri positif. The background to the research is an assumption that one of the factors influencing adolescent identity formation in terms of self-identity is the existence of a figure to be modeled after. Celebrities have been identified as one of the key models affecting adolescent attitude, both positively and negatively. In general, the research aims to find the contribution of modeling to self-identity of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Bandung Academic Year 2014/2015. The research adopted quantitative approach with descriptive study, employing correlational statistical design. A number of 282 students were taken from the population as sample with purposive sampling technique based on certain criteria. Research results show that modeling contributed positively and significantly to the ideological and interpersonal aspects of self-identity formation. The improvement or decline in certain aspects of students’ self-identity in the case of students of SMP Negeri 9 Bandung is, among others, influenced by how the students take television idols as their model. In addition, the contribution of modeling to the interpersonal aspect of identity was higher than the contribution to the ideological aspect of identity, meaning that students who are capable in attending to, making retention, producing behavior, and motivating themselves to adopt the behavior of their television idols will be more influenced in terms of their interpersonal aspect of identity, constituting friendship, dating, sex role playing, and recreation. The implication of this research is in the form of a basic guidance and counseling service design to facilitate students in the formation of a positive self-identity.
