Abstract
Dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran dan mengembangkan ilmu bagi siswa, peran perpustakaan sekolah sangat penting sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk membangkitkan ketertarikan siswa untuk memanfaatkan koleksi perpustakaan yang menjadikan siswa aktif, kreatif dan berprestasi. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan penulis, koleksi yang dimiliki oleh Perpustakaan SMA Pasundan 3 Bandung masih minim baik dari segi jumlah maupun jenisnya dan koleksi yang disediakan kurang bervariasi dimana koleksi yang tersedia sebagian besar masih berupa buku-buku pelajaran dan kurang up to date. Sehingga, koleksi tersebut kurang termanfaatkan oleh siswa dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis hubungan antara kebutuhan informasi siswa dengan ketersediaan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah. Tujuan khusus penelitian ini adalah: (1) mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis hubungan antara jenis kebutuhan informasi siswa dengan ketersediaan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah; (2) mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis hubungan antara sumber informasi dengan ketersediaan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket yang dibagikan kepada siswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 1 dan 2 yang berjumlah 160 siswa dan sampel berjumlah 40 siswa, dengan menggunakan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kebutuhan informasi siswa dengan ketersediaan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah. Secara khusus dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara jenis kebutuhan informasi dengan ketersediaan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah dengan tingkat keeratan korelasi kuat; (2) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara sumber informasi dengan ketersediaan koleksi perpustakaan sekolah seperti dengan tingkat keeratan korelasi kuat. In supporting the process learning and developing students’ knowledge, the role of school library is needed. The role so that it will generate students’interest to use the library collections and will eventually encourage students active, creative and outstanding. Based on the observations, the collection held by the Library of SMA Pasundan 3 Bandung is still insufticient in terms of both quantity and type and provided less varied collection where the collection available remains largely in the form of textbooks and less updated, so that the collection is less benefited by students in meeting the information needs in their learning process. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze correlation between the information needs of students and the availability of school library collections. More specifically, the purpose of the research is as follows: (1) describing and analyzing correlation between the type of information needs of students and the availability of school library collections; (2) describing and analyzing correlation between the information resources with the availability of school library collections. The method used in this research is descriptive method with quantitative approach. Data were obtained by using questionnaire. The research instrument in the form of a questionnaire is distributed to students. The population in this study included all students and the sample used in this study were 40 students using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between the information needs of students and the availability of school library collections. More specifically, it can be concluded as follows: (1) there is a significant correlation between the type of information needs and the availability of school library collections and the level of strong correlation; (2) there is a significant correlation between the information resources and the availability of school library collections at the level of strong correlation.
