Abstract

Hasil pengamatan awal kompetensi pengetahuan siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS SD oleh siswa kelas IV SD masih tergolong rendah yang ditunjukan dengan skor 51,8. Kondisi tersebut disebabkan karena pembelajaran mata pelajaran IPS yang diterapkan oleh sekolah di salah satu kecamatan Sukasari, kelurahan Sarijadi, tepatnya di jalan Sarimanis Blok 17 masih bersifat satu arah, sehingga siswa sebagai peserta didik bersikap pasif khususnya berdampak pada kompetensi pengetahuan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kompetensi pengetahuan siswa. Salah satunya adalah model Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan: (1) rancangan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pengetahuan siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPS SD pada materi masalah sosial di lingkungan setempat; (2) pelaksanaan model Problem Based Learning untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pengetahuan siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPS SD pada materi masalah sosial di lingkungan setempat; dan (3) deskripsi peningkatan perkembangan kompetensi pengetahuan siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPS SD dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning pada materi masalah sosial di lingkungan setempat. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti merancang suatu penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus melalui tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dari lembar observasi aktivitas guru, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, LKS (Lembar Kerja Siswa), dan tes evaluasi di akhir siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan aktivitas pembelajaran yang dilakukan guru ataupun siswa. Pada siklus pertama skor rata-rata siswa mencapai 74,16, dan pada silkus kedua mengalami peningkatan dengan skor rata-rata mencapai 86,10. Ketuntasan siswa pun meningkat pada setiap siklusnya, pada siklus pertama mencapai 50% dan pada siklus kedua mencapai 94,73%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kompetensi pengetahuan siswa dalam mata pelajaran IPS materi masalah sosial di lingkungan setempat. Walaupun demikian, ada beberapa hal yang harus diperhatikan guru dalam menerapkan model Problem Based Learning, yaitu (a) guru harus mampu memfasilitasi dan mendorong siswa dalam penyelidikan suatu masalah; (b) guru harus membiasakan siswa untuk berdiskusi kelompok; dan (c) guru harus mampu memilih media pembelajaran yang tepat agar materi dapat tersampaikan dengan baik. Results of preliminary observations competence of students' knowledge on the subjects of IPS elementary fourth grade students is still relatively low which is indicated by a score of 51.8. The condition is caused due to learning social studies adopted by the school in one of the districts Sukasari, village Sarijadi, precisely in the way Sarimanis Block 17 is still a one-way, so the students as learners be passive in particular have an impact on the knowledge competence. Therefore, we need a model of learning that can improve the competence of students' knowledge. One is a model of Problem Based Learning. This study aimed to obtain: (1) the design of learning by applying a problem based learning model to improve the competence of student knowledge in elementary social studies on the material social problems in the local environment; (2) the implementation of problem based learning model to improve the competence of student knowledge in elementary social studies on the matter of social problems in the local environment; and (3) a description of the increase in competence development of students' knowledge in elementary social studies by applying the model of Problem Based Learning on the material social problems in the local environment. To achieve this goal, the researchers designed a classroom action research conducted in two cycles through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques derived from observation sheet teacher activity, student activity observation sheet, LKS (Student Worksheet), and the evaluation test at the end of the cycle. The results showed an increase in learning activities that teachers or students. In the first cycle of the average score of students reached 74.16, and the second silkus increased by an average score reached 86.10. The completeness of students has increased in each cycle, the first cycle to 50% and in the second cycle reaches 94.73%. Based on the results of this study concluded that the problem based learning model can improve the competence of student knowledge in social studies material social problems in the local environment. However, there are some things that must be considered in applying the model teacher Problem Based Learning, namely (a) the teacher should be able to facilitate and encourage students in the investigation of a problem; (B) teachers should familiarize students for discussion groups; and (c) the teacher should be able to choose appropriate learning media so that the material can be conveyed properly.
