Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan beliefs matematis, serta pengaruh beliefs matematis terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen digunakan dengan disain non-equivalent control group. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Lembang. Kelas eksperimen belajar dengan pendekatan kontekstual dan kelas kontrol dengan pendekatan saintifik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, angket beliefs matematis dan lembar observasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji-t dan uji anakova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada siswa pada kelas kontrol, (2) tidak terdapat perbedaan beliefs matematis antara siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas control, dan (3) beliefs matematis memberikan pengaruh terhadap pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. This research aims to elucidate the attainment and enhancement of mathematical problem solving competency and mathematical beliefs, also the influence of mathematical beliefs to mathematical problem solving competency. Quasi experimental research design used with non-equivalent control group. The population in this research is the entire class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Lembang. Experimental study with classroom contextual approach and scientific approach with a control class. The instruments used are a test of the ability of problem solving, mathematical beliefs and question form the observation sheet. Data analysis was done using t-test and ancova test. The results showed that: (1) the attainment and improvement of mathematical problem-solving competency of the students in the experimental classes better than students in the control class, (2) there is no difference between beliefs mathematical students to that class of experimentation and class control, and (3) mathematical beliefs influence the achievement of the problem solving competency.
