Abstract

Kata kunci: penentuan tujuan, assigned goal, self-set goal, pengelompokan, reaksi afektif, performa The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of goal setting and grouping on task performance and reaction using experimental method with factorial design 2 (individual or group) × 2 (assigned goal or self-set goal). Participants were undergraduate psychology students at Indonesia University of Education. The results showed that groups with self-set goal condition had better affective reaction than groups with assigned goal, individuals with self-set goal, and individuals with assigned goal conditions. This research also found that there is not any difference in task performance among those conditions. As addition, goal setting also enhance task performance across trial, but this is not always the case for affective reaction. Because this research found that there is not any difference in task performance, this research suggest for next researcher to determine other manipulation that affects task performance. Keywords: goal setting, assigned goal, self-set goal, grouping, affective reaction, task performance
