Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan problem solving skill siswa setelah diterapkan metode Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam proses pembelajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode pre experimental dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian diterapkan dengan menggunakan sampel sebanyak 34 siswa di salah satu SMP Negeri di kota Bandung. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen tes berbentuk soal uraian yang dikembangkan berdasarkan pada journal Mettes tahun 1998 dan buku karangan Nikho and Brookhart 2007 dan juga angket siswa untuk melihat respon siswa terhadap PBL dan tes problem solving skill. Hasil ujicoba soal di dapatkan validitas dengan rentang 0.08≤validitas≤0.75 dalam kategori beragam dari sangat rendah sampai tinggi. Nilai reliabitas sebesar 0.302 dalam kategori rendah, hasil angket siswa menunjukan respon yang positif sebesar 84.6%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya peningkatan problem solving skill siswa setelah digunakan metode PBL dalam proses pembelajaran dengan melihat peningkatan siswa menggunakan nilai N-gain sebesar 0.58 yang berada dalam kategori sedang. Peningkatan setiap tahapan proses problem solving skill dilihat dari N-Gain yaitu indentify the problem 0.67, define and represent the problem 0.52, explore possible strategies 0.63, act on the strategies 0.55 dan look back and evaluate the effects of our activities 0,48 , menunjukan bahwa semuanya dalam kategori sedang, ini menunjukan bahwa PBL meningkatkan problem solving skill siswa disetiap tahapan. This study aims to determine the enhance in problem solving skills of students after the applied method of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in the learning process. The method is pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Applied research with a sample of 34 students in one of the Junior High School in the city. Data were collected using a test instrument shaped about the description that was developed based on the journal Mettes 1998 and the book by Nikho and Brookhart, 2007 and also questionnaire students to see the response of students to PBL and test problem solving skills. The test results about the validity of the range 0.08≤validity≤0.75 in diverse categories from very low to high. Reliability value of 0302 in the low category, the results of the student questionnaire showed a positive response of 84.6%. The results showed that an enhance in the problem solving skills of students after PBL method is used in the process of learning to see an enhance in students using the N-value gain of 0.58 which are in the moderate category. Enhance in each stage of the process of problem solving skills seen from the N-Gain are 0.67 indentify the problem, define and represent the problem 12.52, explore possible strategies 0.63, act on the strategies 0.55 and look back and evaluate the effects of our activities 0.48, shows that all of that is in the medium category, this indicates that PBL enhanced students' problem solving skills in every stage.
