Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya minat siswa dalam membuat teks eksposisi. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan guru SMP, kelemahan siswa biasanya terletak pada kesulitan menemukan ide, penggunaan tata bahasa yang tepat, dan pengembangan ide. Berdasarkan latar belakang di atas, rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) bagaimanakah kemampuan siswa menulis teks eksposisi sebelum menggunakan metode kelompok investigasi; (2) bagaimanakah kemampuan siswa menulis teks eksposisi sesudah menggunakan metode kelompok investigasi; (3) apakah terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksposisi sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode kelompok investigasi. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan rumusan masalah tersebut.Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis yang telah dilakukan, terdapat perbedaan yang cukup signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari hasil uji t yaitu thitung = 4,678 > ttabel = 2,001. Dengan demikian, hipotesis H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Berdasarkan uji hipotesisi tersebut dapat disimpulkan metode kelompok investigasi efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Cimahi tahun ajaran 20013/2014. Kata kunci: kelompok investigasi, teks eksposisi This study was conducted since the lack of interest of the students of junior high school in writing exposition text. The interview done with the teacher of the junior high school found out that in writing exposition text, the students were usually lack in finding the idea of writing, developing the idea of writing, and the misuse of grammar. Based on the problems above, there were several questions that were going to be answered by this study. They were: 1) How is the capability of the students in writing exposition text before applying group investigation method?; 2) How is the capability of the students in writing exposition text after applying group investigation method?; 3) Is there any significant difference in students’ ability in writing exposition text before and after applying group investigation method?; This study was aimed to answer those questions. The findings of this study revealed the significant difference between experiment class and control class. It could be seen from the value of thitung = 4,678 which is higher than the value of ttabel = 2,001. From the findings, this study concluded that the hypothesis H1 was accepted and hypothesis H0 was rejected, which also meant that the group investigaton method is effective in enhancing Class of VII students of SMPN 1 Cimahi Year 2013/2014 ability in writing exposition text.
