Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya perbedaan hasil dari pola pengasuhan yang diterapkan orang tua terhadap motivasi anak untuk bersekolah, dimana pada anak yang memiliki motivasi bersekolah yang rendah orang tua kurang memberikan pengawasan dan perhatian terhadap kegiatan sekolah atau belajar anak. Sementara pada anak yang memiliki motivasi sekolah yang cukup tinggi, orang tua memberikan dukungan dan pengawasan terhadap kegiatan sekolah atau belajar anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pola asuh yang diterapkan orang tua, untuk mengetahui tingkat motivasi anak untuk bersekolah dan mendapatkan gambaran umum mengenai hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan motivasi anak untuk bersekolah di Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung. Tempat penelitian dilakukan di Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung dengan sampel penelitian sebanyak 108 orang anak berusia sekolah menengah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Sebanyak 43% orang tua menerapkan pola asuh otoriter kepada responden, sementara 40% orang tua responden menerapkan pola asuh demokratis, dan sebagian kecil (17%) orang tua responden menerapkan pola asuh permisif. 2) Lebih dari setengah (56%) responden memiliki tingkat motivasi bersekolah yang tinggi, 30% responden memiliki tingkat motivasi sekolah yang sedang dan sebagian kecil (14%) responden memiliki tingkat motivasi bersekolah yang rendah. 3) Pola asuh orang tua memberikan kontribusi terhadap motivasi anak untuk bersekolah di Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung sebesar 47,78%. Perolehan nilai korelasi antara pola asuh orang tua dengan motivasi anak untuk bersekolah adalah sebesar 0,691 termasuk dalam kategori hubungan yang sedang. Sedangkan nilai yang diperoleh adalah positif. 4) Pola asuh orang tua memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan motivasi anak untuk bersekolah di Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung. Rekomendasi bagi penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat meneliti hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan motivasi anak untuk bersekolah lebih luas dan lebih mendalam, juga memperbanyak sumber mengenai pola asuh orang tua dan motivasi anak untuk bersekolah agar mempermudah pembaca atau mahasiswa dalam mengkaji topik-topik yang berhubungan dengan dunia pendidikan. The research is based on the differences found in the result of parenting patterns that are applied by parents to motivate their children to attend school, in which the lack of attention that the parents give to the children’s education and learning activities affects on the children’s low motivation to go to school. Meanwhile, the children with a fairly high motivation are supported by parents which provides support and supervision on their school and learning activities. The purpose of this research is to know what kind of parenting pattern which is adapted by the parent, to know the level of motivation of children to attend school and to get a general overview on the connection of parenting pattern toward children's motivation to attend school in Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung. The research was carried out in Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi, Kota Bandung to 108 children of secondary school age. This research employed the survey methods in examining the data. Meanwhile, the data was collected by questionnaire and observation. The results shows that: 1) As many as 43% of parents applying authoritarian parenting to the respondents, while 40% of the elderly respondents implement democratic parenting, and a small percentage (17%) of parents implement permissive parenting. 2) More than half (56%) of respondents have a high level of motivation in school, 30% of respondents have moderate level of motivation, and a small percentage (14%) of respondents have attended a low motivation levels. 3) Parenting method contributes to the motivation of children to attend school in Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung 47,78%. The acquisition value of the correlation between the parenting with children's motivation to attend school is 0,691 which can be included in a moderate category of relationship. In addition to that, the value obtained is positive. 4) Parenting method has a significant relationship with the motivation of a child to attend school in Kelurahan Sukagalih Kecamatan Sukajadi Kota Bandung. Further research on this topic is needed to deepen and broaden the examination of the relationship between parenting method and children's motivation. It is also expected to enrich the information on parenting and the topic of motivation for the children to attend school in order to facilitate readers or students in examining topics related to the world of education.
