Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya self-efficacy akademik peserta didik dalam mencapai prestasi belajar. Penelitian bertujuan menguji efektivitas teknik symbolic modeling untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy akademik yang dilakukan kepada tiga puluh orang siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 16 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2013/2014. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen kuasi dan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat ukur berupa kuesioner yaitu alat ukur self-efficacy akademik kepada peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 16 Bandung. Analisis perhitungan data menggunakan rerata dan uji t untuk melihat kenaikan skor self-efficacy akademik dan analisis pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik symbolic modeling efektif untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy akademik peserta didik. Guru Bimbingan dan Konseling, diharapkan dapat menggunakan teknik symbolic modeling untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy akademik. The background of the research was the importance of students' academic self-efficacy for achieving learning achievement. The aim of the research is examining the effectiviness of a symbolic modeling technique to increase academic self-efficacy done to the thirty students of seventh grade at SMP Negeri 16 Bandung Academic Year 2013/2014. The research approach used quantitative with quasi-experimental method and for research design used nonequivalent control group design. The data was collected using a questionnaire measuring instrument that is a measuring instruments academic self-efficacy to seventh grade of SMP Negeri 16 Bandung .The data calculation analysis using the average and t-test to see the increase of academic self-efficacy scores and analysis of pre-test and post-test. The results showed that a symbolic modeling technique is effective for increase the learners’ academic self-efficacy. The school counselor, is expected to use the symbolic modeling technique to increase the learners’ academic self-efficacy.
