Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP yang masih rendah, oleh karena itu dilakukan suatu kajian tentang penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS melalui pendekatan open-ended pada pembelajaran matematika. Adapun tujuan penlitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS (Think Pair Share) melalui pendekatan open-ended lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran secara konvensional, kualitas peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS (Think Pair Share) melalui pendekatan open-ended, serta sikap siswa terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe TPS (Think Pair Share) melalui pendekatan open-ended. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen. Adapun populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Bandung. Sementara sampel tidak dipilih secara acak, melainkan peneliti memilih kelas sehingga terpilih kelas VII D sebagai kelas kontrol dan VII F sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang disusun berdasarkan indikator kemampuan koneksi menurut Kusumah, dan instrumen non tes yaitu: angket sikap siswa, jurnal harian dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan koneksi matematis siwa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS (Think Pair Share) melalui pendekatan open-ended tidak lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran secara konvensional, kualitas peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa kelas eksperimen tergolong kategori sedang, serta siswa memberikan sikap positif terhadap model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS (Think Pair Share) melalui pendekatan open-ended. Kata Kunci : Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe TPS (Think Pair Share), Pendekatan Open-Ended, Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis This research was motivated by the low Junior High School Students to ability mathematical connection , therefore conducted an assumed of the implementation of TPS cooverative learning model through open-ended approach to learning mathematics. The purpose of this research is to know: whether the mathematical connection ability of students learning mathematics using TPS cooperative learning models through open-ended approach better than students who used the conventional learning models, the quality of students mathematical connection ability improved after using TPS cooperative learning models through open-ended approach, as well as students attitudes toward mathematics learning activities using TPS cooperative learning models through open-ended approach. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental methods. The population in this study were all students of class VII at one of the secondary schools in the city of Bandung. The sample is not randomly chosen, but it is purposively chosen. As the result VII D class is chosen as control class, on the other hand VII F class was chosen as experimental class. The instrument which is utilized in this research is mathematical connection ability test which is arranged based on the indicator of mathematical connection ability according to Kusumah, questionnaire of students’ attitude, Students daily journal, and observation sheet. The result showed that the mathematical connection ability of students learning mathematics using TPS cooperative learning models through open-ended approach no better than students using the conventional model of learning, the increas quality of students mathematical connection ability after using TPS cooperative learning models through open-ended approach included into the categories, as well as giving students a positive attitude towards mathematics learning activites using TPS cooperative learning models through open-ended approach.
