Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa sekolah menengah. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) yaitu pembelajaran yang dimulai dari penyajian masalah atau soal matematika. Aktivitas-aktivitas yang dilakukan siswa pada proses menemukan solusi dari masalah yang diberikan dapat menstimulasi proses berpikir dan bernalar siswa, diantaranya merecall konsep-konsep yang telah dipelajari sebelumnya. Secara logis, peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis dapat terjadi. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang pembelajaran matematikanya menggunakan Problem-Based Learning dibandingkan dengan peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan metode ekspositori. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen dengan teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 6 Bandung tahun ajaran 2012/2013 dengan sampel penelitiannya siswa kelas XI IPA 4 dan kelas XI IPA 5. Data penelitian diperoleh dari hasil tes kemampuan koneksi matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang pembelajaran matematikanya menggunakan Problem-Based Learning secara signifikan lebih baik daripada peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan metode ekspositori. Kata kunci: Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis, Problem-Based Learning. This research is motivated by the lack’s of student mathematical connection ability. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is focused, experiential learning (minds-on, hands-on) organized around the investigation and resolution of messy, real-world problem. Student’s activities in resolution investigating process stimulate their thinking and reasoning, such as recalling previous concepts. Since logically that occurs mathematical connection, the purpose of this research is to examine the increasing of mathematical connection ability between students who learn by Problem-Based Learning and students who learn by expository method. This research used quasi-experimental methods with design non-equivalen control group and purposive sampling. The population is second class students of SMAN 6 Bandung year 2012/2013, while class XI IPA 4 and XI IPA 5 as sample. This research used mathematical connection test as instrument and the result tell that the increasing mathematical connection ability of students who learn by Problem-Based Learning better than the increasing mathematical connection ability of students who learn by expository method.
