Abstract
ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penggunaan fotografi jalanan sebagai media pembelajaran dalam mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS), khususnya pada materi interaksi sosial, serta menganalisis dampaknya terhadap keterampilan analisis peserta didik. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek penelitian peserta didik kelas VIII A SMP Yos Sudarso Cigugur. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fotografi jalanan mampu menjadi media pembelajaran yang efektif dan menarik. Media ini memberikan visualisasi konkret terhadap fenomena sosial di lingkungan sekitar peserta didik, sehingga mampu meningkatkan pemahaman mereka terhadap konsep interaksi sosial. Selain itu, penggunaan fotografi jalanan mendorong peserta didik untuk lebih aktif, kritis, dan reflektif dalam menganalisis berbagai dinamika sosial yang terjadi dimasyarakat. Respon peserta didik terhadap media ini juga sangat positif karena dianggap relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari dan mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar.Fotografi jalanan dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif inovatif dalam proses pembelajaran IPS yang mampu mengembangkan keterampilan analisis serta meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif peserta didik di kelas. ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the use of street photography as a learning medium in Social Studies (IPS), particularly in the topic of social interaction, and to analyze its impact on students’ analytical skills. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with the research subjects being students of class VIII A at SMP Yos Sudarso Cigugur. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The results indicate that street photography serves as an effective and engaging learning medium. It provides concrete visual representations of social phenomena in the students’ surroundings, enhancing their understanding of social interaction concepts. Moreover, the use of street photography encourages students to be more active, critical, and reflective in analyzing various social dynamics within the community. Student responses to this medium were highly positive, as it was perceived to be relevant to real-life experiences and able to boost learning motivation. Therefore, street photography can be considered an innovative alternative in Social Studies instruction, capable of fostering students’ analytical skills and promoting active classroom engagement.
