    Abstract

    Harapan didefinisikan sebagai pernyataan motivasional yang didapatkan dari hasil keinginan untuk sukses yang meliputi dua hal, yaitu: (1) agency (energi untuk mencapai tujuan) dan (2) pathways (rencana atau jalur untuk mencapai tujuan). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kecenderungan harapan siswa sekolah menengah pertama. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan alat ukur children hope scale dari Snyder yang berbentuk angket dengan menggunakan skala Likert dan memiliki 4 pilihan jawaban. Partisipan penelitian adalah peserta didik SMP Negeri 1 Bandung kelas VIII Tahun Ajaran 2023/2024 dengan jumlah responden penelitian sebanyak 271 peserta didik. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah profil umum hope siswa dalam kategori moderat. Sedangkan berdasarkan aspek profil umum harapan siswa berdasarkan agency adalah moderat hope. Dan profil umum harapan siswa berdasarkan aspek pathway adalah moderat hope. Selanjutnya profil umum harapan siswa berdasarkan jenis kelamin adalah secara umum baik laki-laki maupun perempuan memiliki kecenderungan harapan yang sama yaitu memiliki frekuensi terbanyak pada moderate hope. Rekomendasi penelitian bagi guru BK/konselor dapat menggunakan bimbingan dengan strategi life-coaching untuk pengembangan harapan siswa dalam kurikulum bimbingan (layanan dasar) bimbingan dan konseling khususnya pada Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Hope is defined as a motivational statement obtained from the desire for success which includes two things, namely: (1) agency (energy to achieve goals) and (2) pathways (plans or paths to achieve goals). The study aims to determine the tendency of junior high school students' hopes. The research used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The research instrument used Snyder's children hope scale measuring instrument in the form of a questionnaire using a Likert scale and had 4 answer choices. The research participants were students of SMP Negeri 1 Bandung in the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 271 students. The results of this study are the general profile of student hope in the moderate category. Meanwhile, based on aspects, the general profile of students' hope based on agency is moderate hope. And the general profile of student hope based on the pathway aspect is moderate hope. Furthermore, the general profile of student hope based on gender is that in general both men and women have the same tendency of hope, namely having the highest frequency in moderate hope. Research recommendations for counseling teachers/counselors can use guidance with student hope development training strategies in the guidance curriculum (basic services) of guidance and counseling, especially in junior high schools.
