Abstract
This study addresses the limited practical learning resources for hydrogen-based electric vehicle technology in higher education, which hinders students' understanding of future technology. This study implements a Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) prototype as a learning medium in Automotive Engineering Education to improve student learning outcomes covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach involved 30 Automotive Engineering Education students who had not yet taken the Electric Vehicle Technology course. The results of this study indicate that the learning process using the FCEV prototype is very effective, categorized as very good in terms of student engagement and learning environment. Student responses to the learning medium were also very positive, rated as very good. A significant increase in learning outcomes was observed, with an N-Gain score of 0.68 (68%), categorized as moderate, indicating substantial interest in Electric Vehicle Technology. This study suggests that hands-on experience with the FCEV prototype is a valuable medium to prepare students for the ever-evolving automotive industry.
