    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman kebencanaan bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus, khususnya anak tunagrahita, yang umumnya masih disampaikan secara teoritis dan kurang aplikatif. Anak tunagrahita membutuhkan pembelajaran konkret dan menarik agar lebih mudah memahami langkah-langkah penyelamatan diri saat bencana, terutama gempa bumi yang sering terjadi di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode simulasi dengan media audio visual terhadap peningkatan pemahaman anak tunagrahita dalam menghadapi bencana gempa bumi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa tunagrahita kelas IX di SLB ABC Muhammadiyah Sumedang yang berjumlah 6 orang. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui pretest dan posttest, dengan teknik analisis data yaitu Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman yang signifikan pada anak tunagrahita setelah mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan metode simulasi dengan media audio visual. Anak menjadi lebih mengenal tanda-tanda gempa bumi, memahami prosedur evakuasi, dan merespons situasi secara tepat sesuai dengan kapasitas intelektualnya. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah metode simulasi yang dipadukan dengan media audio visual berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan pemahaman anak tunagrahita dalam menghadapi bencana gempa bumi. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi guru pendidikan khusus dalam mengembangkan model pembelajaran kebencanaan yang lebih efektif, adaptif, dan aplikatif bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus. This research is motivated by the low level of disaster preparedness understanding among children with special needs, particularly students with intellectual disabilities, which is generally delivered in a theoretical and less applicable manner. Children with intellectual disabilities require concrete and engaging learning methods to better understand self-rescue steps during disasters, especially earthquakes that frequently occur in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the simulation method using audio-visual media on improving the understanding of children with intellectual disabilities in facing earthquake disasters. The research method used is an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were six ninth-grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB ABC Muhammadiyah Sumedang. Data collection was carried out through pretests and posttests, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results show a significant improvement in understanding among children with intellectual disabilities after participating in learning through the simulation method with audio-visual media. The children became more familiar with the signs of earthquakes, understood evacuation procedures, and responded appropriately according to their intellectual capacity. The conclusion of this study is that the simulation method combined with audio- visual media has a positive effect on improving the understanding of children with intellectual disabilities in dealing with earthquake disasters. This research is expected to serve as a reference for special education teachers in developing more effective, adaptive, and applicable disaster education models for children with special needs.
