    Abstract

    Genre di dalam film terus berkembang tak hanya tentang komedi, romantis atau action. Banyak genre baru hadir dari kreativitas para penggiat film salah satunya genre superhero. Salah satu daya tarik dari film superhero adalah desain karakter yang mencakup kostum, penokohan dan masih banyak lainnya, salah satu desain karakter superhero yang terkenal dan ikonik adalah Batman. Adaptasi live action Batman sendiri sudah banyak dibuat dan memiliki berbagai versi, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana transformasi dari desain karakter Batman dari tiap adaptasi live actionnya. Metode yang digunakan deskriptif naratif dengan teknik analisis konten untuk memilih data-data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini dan menggunakan teori yang relevan seperti Manga Matrix untuk menganalisis kostum Batman, Teori Orson Scoot Card untuk membedah penokohan dan Hermeneutika Paul Ricouer untuk melihat perubahan interpretasi tiap adaptasi Batman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan signifikan pada kostum Batman mulai dari warna, gaya dan bahan sehingga tiap film memiliki ciri khas masing-masing, sementara dalam penokohan Batman tidak banyak berubah dan memiliki motif sama setiap filmnya namun memiliki pendekatan berbeda sehingga desain karakter Batman selalu konsisten dan menjadi ikonik. Desain karakter Batman sendiri memiliki interpretasi berbeda dari tiap filmnya disebabkan pendekatan sutradara dan sumber yang di adaptasi dan memiliki simbol dan makna yang berbeda sehingga Batman bukan hanya sekedar karakter komik yang adaptasi ke film namun sudah mencerminkan identitas, budaya dan pengaruh sosial dalam tiap desain karakter. Film genres continue to evolve, extending beyond comedy, romance, and action. Many new genres emerge from the creativity of filmmakers, including the superhero genre. One of the appeals of superhero films is the character design, encompassing costumes, characterization, and much more. One of the most famous and iconic superhero designs is Batman. Batman live action adaptations have been made many times and have various versions, this study aims to see how the transformation of Batman's character design from each live action adaptation. The method used is descriptive narrative with content analysis techniques to select the data used in this study and uses relevant theories such as Manga Matrix to analyze Batman's costume, Orson Scoot Card's Theory to dissect characterization and Paul Ricouer's Hermeneutics to see the changes in interpretation of each Batman adaptation. The results of the study show that there are significant changes in Batman's costume starting from color, style and material so that each film has its own characteristics, while in Batman's characterization there is not much change and has the same motif in each film but has a different approach so that the Batman character design is always consistent and becomes iconic. The Batman character design itself has a different interpretation from each film due to the director's approach and the adapted source and has different symbols and meanings so that Batman is not just a comic character adapted to film but has reflected identity, culture and social influence in each character design.
