    Abstract

    Penelitian ini berjudul “Representasi Perempuan Sunda dalam Tari Mayang Katon di Sanggar Setialuyu Bandung” bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan mendeskripsikan beberapa informasi nilai tekstual dan kontekstual yang membangun nilai perempuan sunda pada Tari Mayang Katon di Sanggar Setialuyu Bandung. Fokus kajian mencakup tiga aspek utama yaitu bentuk penyajian, nilai perempuan Sunda dalam koreografi, dan nilai perempuan Sunda dalam tata rias dan busana. Tari Mayang Katon merupakan tari kreasi yang lahir dari tradisi masyarakat Sunda dan diciptakan oleh Moh. Aim Salim dan dipublikasikan pertama kali pada tahun 1990-an, berfungsi sebagai simbol penyambutan dan pengharapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analisis serta mengaplikasikan teori Etnokoreologi untuk mengkaji teks (struktur tari) dan konteks (nilai perempuan Sunda) tari Mayang Katon. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koreografi tari Mayang Katon didominasi oleh gerak halus, ritme terkontrol, dan merefleksikan karakter perempuan Sunda yang lemah lembut namun teguh. Tata rias korektif yang menonjolkan ekspresi halus dan bersahaja, serta busana berwarna hijau dan emas dengan motif tradisional, memperkuat citra perempuan Sunda yang sopan. Aksesoris seperti siger, sumping, dan bunga melati turut memperkuat makna simbolis keanggunan dan kekuatan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa tari Mayang Katon tidak hanya merupakan bentuk seni pertunjukan yang estetis, tetapi juga warisan budaya hidup yang secara mendalam merepresentasikan nilai-nilai luhur perempuan Sunda. This study, entitled "The Representation of Sundanese Women in the Mayang Katon Dance at Sanggar Setialuyu Bandung," aims to examine and describe both textual and contextual values that construct the image of Sundanese women in the Mayang Katon dance as performed at Sanggar Setialuyu Bandung. The study focuses on three main aspects: the form of presentation, the representation of Sundanese women in choreography, and the representation of Sundanese women through makeup and costume. The Mayang Katon dance is a creative work rooted in Sundanese traditions, choreographed by Moh. Aim Salim and first introduced in the 1990s. It functions as a symbol of welcome and hope.This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive-analytical methods and applies the theory of Ethnochoreology to analyze the textual (dance structure) and contextual (Sundanese women's values) elements of the Mayang Katon dance. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the choreography of Mayang Katon is characterized by graceful movements and controlled rhythm, reflecting the gentle yet resolute nature of Sundanese women. Corrective makeup emphasizing soft and modest expressions, along with green and gold traditional costumes, reinforce the image of politeness and elegance. Accessories such as the siger (crown), sumping (ear ornaments), and jasmine flowers add symbolic meaning, highlighting both grace and strength. In conclusion, the Mayang Katon dance is not only an aesthetically rich performance art but also a living cultural heritage that profoundly represents the noble values of Sundanese women.
