    Abstract

    Urgensi masalah sampah di Indonesia, rendahnya kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat, serta peluang untuk memperkuat pendidikan lingkungan melalui kurikulum yang terintegrasi menjadi dasar penelitian ini. Kompetensi terkait Sustainable Waste Management Practices pada dasarnya adalah kompetensi untuk mengurangi jumlah sampah yang dihasilkan dengan target zero-landfill. Tujuan utama dari menginfusikan kompetensi terkait Sustainable Waste Management Practices dalam kurikulum adalah untuk menanamkan kesadaran pada siswa mengenai pentingnya pengelolaan sampah yang tepat untuk mengurangi dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan serta mendukung keberlanjutan ekosistem. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Design-based Research (DBR) yang meliputi tahap analisis dan eksplorasi, desain dan pengembangan, serta evaluasi dan refleksi. Identifikasi masalah pada tahap analisis dan eksplorasi dilakukan melalui studi literatur, analisis kondisi faktual dan analisis kebutuhan kompetensi yang menghasilkan kompetensi esensial terkait Sustainable Waste Management Practices, yaitu penguasaan konsep 4R (refuse, reduce, repair, recycle), pengembangan empati lingkungan, kemampuan mengevaluasi dan keterampilan komunikasi sains. Desain kurikulum dilakukan dengan mengembangkan kompetensi esensial menjadi indikator yang bersama-sama capaian pembelajaran menghasilkan tujuan pembelajaran infusi. Desain ini menggunakan organisasi subject-matter centered dan model infusi Hungerford. Tahapan evaluasi dan refleksi melibatkan ahli sebagai validator untuk menguji kelayakan dokumen sebelum melanjutkan ke tahap uji coba. Uji coba implementasi dilakukan secara terbatas untuk mengungkap keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dan respon baik dari siswa maupun guru melalui kuesioner refleksi dan wawancara terstruktur. Hasil uji coba memperlihatkan bahwa siswa menyadari pentingnya pengelolaan sampah berkelanjutan dengan 4R dan mampu mengkomunikasikannya kepada lingkungan/komunitas lokal. Produk dari penelitian ini adalah dokumen kurikulum mikro Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam di Sekolah Menengah Pertama yang telah diinfusikan kompetensi terkait Sustainable Waste Management Practices. Adapun implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah mendorong kolaborasi antar bidang studi sehingga siswa dapat memahami Sustainable Waste Management Practices secara holistik sekaligus mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir sistemik dan solutif terhadap permasalahan lingkungan. The urgency of the waste problem in Indonesia, the low environmental awareness among the public, and the opportunity to strengthen environmental education through an integrated curriculum form the foundation of this research. The competency related to Sustainable Waste Management Practices is essentially the competence to reduce the amount of waste generated with a zero-landfill target. The primary objective of infusing competencies related to Sustainable Waste Management Practices into the curriculum is to instill in students an awareness of the importance of proper waste management to reduce negative environmental impacts and support ecosystem sustainability. This research employs the Design-based Research (DBR) method, which includes the stages of analysis and exploration, design and development, and evaluation and reflection. Problem identification in the analysis and exploration stage was conducted through literature review, analysis of factual conditions, and competency needs analysis, which yielded essential competencies related to Sustainable Waste Management Practices. These are: mastery of the 4R concept (refuse, reduce, repair, recycle), development of environmental empathy, evaluation skills, and science communication skills. Curriculum design was carried out by developing these essential competencies into indicators, which, together with learning outcomes, formulate the infused learning objectives. This design utilizes a subject-matter centered organization and the Hungerford infusion model. The evaluation and reflection stage involved experts as validators to assess the feasibility of the document before proceeding to the trial stage. A limited implementation trial was conducted to reveal the feasibility of the learning process and the responses from both students and teachers through reflection questionnaires and structured interviews. The trial results showed that students became aware of the importance of sustainable waste management with the 4R principles and were able to communicate it to their environment/local community. The product of this research is a document for a micro-curriculum for Natural Sciences at the Junior High School level, which has been infused with competencies related to Sustainable Waste Management Practices. The implication of this research is to encourage collaboration across subject areas, enabling students to understand Sustainable Waste Management Practices holistically while simultaneously developing systemic and solution-oriented thinking skills towards environmental problems.
