Abstract
Generasi Z dikenal memiliki karakteristik konsumsi informasi yang cepat, visual oriented, multitasking, dan kurang menyukai teks panjang. Mereka lebih sering mencari berita melalui media sosial seperti Instagram, namun jarang membacanya secara mendalam, sehingga kebutuhan informasinya belum sepenuhnya terpenuhi. Instagram kini menjadi salah satu media yang digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi secara cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konten berita terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi berita up to date pada pengikut akun Instagram @kompascom. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Uses and Gratification sebagai landasan teoritis dan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Sampel berjumlah 400 responden dari Generasi Z, yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Variabel independen (X) adalah konten berita terdiri dari enam sub variabel: Relevansi Konten, Mudah Dipahami, Orisinalitas Konten, Kredibilitas Konten, Konsistensi Konten, dan Daya Tarik Informasi. Variabel dependen (Y) adalah pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi berita up to date . Analisis data dilakukan dengan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa relevansi konten (X1), mudah dipahami (X2), dan kredibilitas konten (X4) berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi berita up to date . Sementara orisinalitas konten (X3), konsistensi konten (X5), dan daya tarik informasi (X6) berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi berita up to date (Y). Variabel independen (X) menjelaskan sekitar 70.3% variasi dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi berita up to date (Y). Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar akun Instagram @kompascom dapat meningkatkan konten yang kredibel dan menarik untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi Generasi Z. Generation Z is known for its fast paced information consumption, visual orientation, multitasking tendencies, and dislike for lengthy texts. They tend to seek news through social media platforms like Instagram but often do not engage with the content deeply, resulting in unmet informational needs. Instagram has now become one of the platforms used to quickly fulfill the need for up to date information. This study aims to examine the influence of news content on the fulfillment of up to date news information needs among followers of the Instagram account @kompascom. The research is grounded in the Uses and Gratification Theory and employs a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample consists of 400 Generation Z respondents selected using purposive sampling. The independent variable (X) is news content with six sub-variables: (1) Content Relevance, (2) Ease of Understanding, (3) Content Originality, (4) Content Credibility, (5) Content Consistency, and (6) Information Appeal. The dependent variable (Y) is the fulfillment of up to date news information needs. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings show that content relevance (X1), ease of understanding (X2), and content credibility (X4) have a significant positive effect on the fullfillment of up to date news information needs. Meanwhile, content originality (X3), content consistency (X5), and information appeal (X6) have a significant negative effect on the dependent variable (Y). The independent variables (X) explain approximately 70.3% of the variation in the fulfillment of up to date news information needs (Y). This study recommends that the @kompascom Instagram account enhance its credible and engaging content to better meet the information needs of Generation Z.
