    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenisjenis Coping Mechanism terhadap kecemasan mahasiswa baru luar Pulau Jawa yang merantau di Jawa barat. Sampel berjumlah 371 responden, yang diambil dengan teknik Nonprobability Sampling dengan metode Convenience Sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah Brief Cope untuk mengukur Coping Mechanism dan Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) untuk mengukur kecemasan, data dianalisis dengan teknik statistik multiple regression. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Less Useful Coping berpengaruh positif signifikan, Problem Focused Coping berpengaruh negatif signifikan, dan Emotion Focused Coping tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kecemasan. This study was conducted to examine the influence of different types of coping mechanisms on anxiety among first-year students from outside Java who are studying in West Java. The sample consisted of 371 respondents, selected using nonprobability sampling with the convenience sampling method. The research instruments used were the Brief COPE to measure coping mechanisms and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) to measure anxiety. The data were analyzed using multiple regression statistical techniques. The results indicate that less useful coping has a significant positive effect, problem-focused coping has a significant negative effect, while emotion-focused coping does not have a significant effect on anxiety.
