Abstract
Kata kunci: literasi membaca, KYRO, Design-Based Research, sekolah dasar This research is motivated by the absence of a reading literacy–based learning model designed for second-grade elementary school students that follows the steps of Know, Believe, Feel, and Process (KYRO). This condition has led to persistent obstacles for students in comprehending texts, enriching vocabulary, and reading fluently. The purpose of this study is to develop and examine the effectiveness of the KYRO-based learning model in improving reading literacy among second-grade elementary school students, with an emphasis on deep learning. The method employed is Design-Based Research (DBR), carried out through four main stages: problem identification and needs analysis, model design, testing and refinement, and reflection. The research subjects were second-grade students at a public elementary school in Tasikmalaya City. Data were collected through observation, teacher interviews, and student response questionnaires. The results show that the implementation of the KYRO-based model helped students read more fluently, expand their vocabulary, and foster interest in reading activities. In addition, teachers gave positive responses regarding the flexibility and ease of applying the model in class, indicating that the KYRO model is feasible to be used as an alternative strategy for teaching reading literacy in elementary schools.
