    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kemampuan berbicara anak tunagrahita di kelas 4 SLBN Citeureup Cimahi yang kurang berkembang. Penerapan metode bercerita yang dikombinasikan dengan media wayang limbah terhadap kemampuan berbicara anak tunagrahita. Berbicara sebagai bagian dari pembelajaran aktif, berperan penting dalam meningkatkan retensi dan pemahaman siswa karena melibatkan partisipasi langsung, serta aktivitas berpikir mendalam. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis penerapan metode bercerita berbantuan media wayang limbah terhadap kemampuan berbicara anak tunagrahita di SLBN Citeureup Cimahi. Penelitian ini menggunakan data kuantitatif metode Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A. Pengumpulan data dilakukan sebanyak tiga fase melalui tes lisan. Fase baseline-A1 sebanyak 3 sesi, fase intervensi-B sebanyak 7 sesi, dan fase baseline-A2 sebanyak 3 sesi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga orang anak tunagrahita ringan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode bercerita dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara anak tunagrahita. Hal tersebut didasarkan pada data hasil penelitian, bahwa persentase mean level dari satu fase ke fase lain meningkat. Subjek I pada fase baseline-A1 persentase mean level adalah 64%, pada fase intervensi-B mean level mencapai persentase 84%, dan pada fase baseline-A2 jumlah mean level 93%. Selanjutnya subjek II pada fase baseline-A1 persentase mean level adalah 75%, pada fase intervensi-B mean level mencapai persentase 92%, dan pada fase baseline-A2 jumlah mean level 99%. Adapun subjek III pada fase baseline-A1 persentase mean level mencapai 37%, pada fase intervensi-B mean level mencapai persentase 45%, dan pada fase baseline-A2 jumlah mean level 57%. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa subjek I, subjek II, dan subjek III sudah mampu melafalkan sebagian besar bunyi vokal, konsonan, suku kata tertutup dan terbuka, serta melafalkan bunyi dengan intonasi yang tepat. This research is motivated by the underdeveloped speaking ability of children with disabilities in Grade 4 at SLBN Citeureup Cimahi. It investigates the application of the storytelling method combined with waste puppet media to improve the speaking skills of children with disabilities. Speaking, as part of active learning, plays an important role in enhancing student retention and understanding, as it involves direct participation and deep cognitive engagement. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the storytelling method assisted by waste puppet media on the speaking ability of children with disabilities at SLBN Citeureup Cimahi. This study used a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method in an A-B-A design. Data collection was conducted in three phases through oral tests: the baseline-A1 phase consisted of 3 sessions, the intervention-B phase consisted of 7 sessions, and the baseline-A2 phase consisted of 3 sessions. The subjects of this study were three children with mild intellectual disabilities. The results showed that the application of the storytelling method improved the speaking abilities of the children. This is based on the research data, which show an increase in the percentage of mean levels from one phase to another. For Subject I, the mean level in the baseline-A1 phase was 64%, increased to 84% in the intervention-B phase, and reached 93% in the baseline-A2 phase. For Subject II, the mean level was 75% in baseline-A1, rose to 92% in the intervention-B phase, and reached 99% in baseline-A2. Subject III showed a mean level of 37% in baseline-A1, increased to 45% in intervention-B, and reached 57% in baseline-A2. These results show that Subject I, Subject II, and Subject III were able to pronounce most vowel and consonant sounds, closed and open syllables, and produce speech with appropriate intonation.
