    Abstract

    Mahasiswa seringkali tidak bisa lepas dari penggunaan gawai. Terkadang mahasiswa menggunakan gawai tanpa melihat situasi yang sedang terjadi, salah satunya ketika melakukan interaksi sosial. Kondisi dimana mahasiswa lebih fokus menggunakan gawai disaat melakukan interaksi sosial disebut dengan phubbing. Fenomena phubbing yang terjadi pada mahasiswa dapat mengurangi kualitas interaksi interpersonal. Interaksi interpersonal yang berkualitas dapat diciptakan ketika mahasiswa mindful terhadap interaksi yang sedang terjadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh mindfulness terhadap perilaku phubbing yang dimoderasi boredom proneness pada mahasiswa Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Pemilihan topik tersebut dikarenakan belum terdapat penelitian terdahulu yang membahas pengaruh mindfulness terhadap phubbing dengan memasukan boredom proneness sebagai variabel moderasi. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 321 responden yang berusia 18-25 tahun dengan menggunakan metode non-probability sampling dengan teknik convenience sampling dimana pengambilan sampel berdasarkan ketersediaan dan kesediaan subjek yang memenuhi kriteria. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu instrumen Interpersonal Mindfulness Scale (IMS), Phubbing Scale (PS), serta Boredom Proneness Scale Short Form (BPS-SF) yang sudah diadaptasi ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil analisis menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana dan moderated regression analysis (MRA) yang menunjukkan hasil bahwa boredom proneness tidak berperan sebagai moderator dalam hubungan antara mindfulness dan phubbing, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.345 (> 0.05). Meskipun demikian, hasil analisis regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan bahwa mindfulness berkontribusi negatif terhadap phubbing, sedangkan boredom proneness berkontribusi positif. Hal ini memiliki arti bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat mindfulness mahasiswa maka akan semakin rendah tingkat phubbingnya dan semakin tinggi boredom proneness mahasiswa maka akan semakin tinggi juga phubbing mahasiswa. Students often cannot escape the use of gadgets. Sometimes students use gadgets without paying attention to the situation at hand, one example being during social interactions. The condition where students are more focused on using gadgets during social interactions is called phubbing. The phenomenon of phubbing among students can reduce the quality of interpersonal interactions. Quality interpersonal interactions can be created when students are mindful of the interactions that are taking place. This study aims to investigate the effect of mindfulness on phubbing behavior, moderated by boredom proneness, among students at the University of Education Indonesia. The selection of this topic is due to the lack of previous research discussing the influence of mindfulness on phubbing by including boredom proneness as a moderating variable. The participants in this study consisted of 321 respondents aged 18-25 years using non-probability sampling with convenience sampling techniques, where the sample was selected based on the availability and willingness of subjects who met the criteria. The instruments used in this study were the Interpersonal Mindfulness Scale (IMS), Phubbing Scale (PS), and Boredom Proneness Scale Short Form (BPS-SF), which have been adapted into Indonesian. The results of the analysis using simple linear regression and moderated regression analysis (MRA) showed that boredom proneness did not act as a moderator in the relationship between mindfulness and phubbing, with a significance value of 0.345 (> 0.05). However, the results of a simple linear regression analysis showed that mindfulness negatively contributed to phubbing, while boredom-proneness positively contributed. This means that the higher a student's level of mindfulness, the lower their phubbing rate, and the higher their boredom-proneness, the higher their phubbing rate.
