Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model gradual release of responsibility dengan penguatan analisis teks multimodal dalam pembelajaran memirsa di perguruan tinggi. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh situasi perkembangan visual untuk menyampaikan pesan yang semakin masif dalam berbagai platform sehingga memerlukan adaptasi dalam proses penciptaan makna. Langkah-langkah penelitian ini terdiri atas empat langkah yakni analisis masalah praktis, pengembangan model, penerapan model, dan refleksi hasil yang melibatkan dua perguruan tinggi di Jawa Barat. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah FGD, angket, tes, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik kualitatif dan teknik kuantitatif deskriptif. Adapun hasil penelitian adalah pertama bahwa kemampuan memirsa mahasiswa belum optimal dan belum terevaluasi secara pemeringkatan walau secara praktik menggunakan waktu dan alat secara maksimal. Kedua, terbentuknya model hipotetik MGRRAM dengan konsep pemeringkatan keterampilan memirsa yang tervalidasi. Ketiga, hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa hasil uji terbatas dan uji luas dapat meningkatkan kemampuan awal dan akhir kemampuan memirsa mahasiswa secara signifikan. Keempat, mendapat respons positif dari para pelibat atas pengembangan model ini. Berdasarkan temuan model GRRAM dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan memirsa bagi mahasiswa dan sebagai implikasi penelitian ini berupa produk bagi para pengajar di perguruan tinggi khususnya pengajar keterampilan berbahasa dapat menggunakan model GRRAM ini sebagai alternatif model pembelajaran. This study aims to develop a Gradual Release of Responsibility model with the reinforcement of multimodal text analysis in viewing comprehension learning at the higher education level. This research is motivated by the growing prevalence of visual media used to convey messages across various platforms, requiring adaptation in the meaning-making process. The research consists of four stages: practical problem analysis, model development, model implementation, and reflection on the results, involving two universities in West Java. Data collection techniques used include focus group discussions (FGDs), questionnaires, tests, and documentation, while data analysis techniques employ both qualitative and descriptive quantitative methods. The results of the study are as follows: first, students' viewing comprehension skills are not yet optimal and have not been evaluated in a tiered manner, despite the practical use of time and tools being maximized. Second, the formation of a hypothetical MGRRAM model with a validated concept of tiered viewing skills. Third, the results of limited and broader trials indicate a significant improvement in students’ initial and final viewing comprehension abilities. Fourth, the model development received positive responses from participants. Based on these findings, the GRRAM model can be used to enhance students’ viewing comprehension skills and, as an implication of this study, can serve as a practical product for university instructors, particularly those teaching language skills, to use as an alternative teaching model.
