Abstract
Matematika yaitu salah satu mata pelajaran yang penting, dalam pelaksanaannya siswa kurang mampu secara maksimal memahami materi yang disampaikan terutama pada materi diagram batang, yaitu memahami cara menyusun, membaca, dan menganalisis diagram batang dan pembelajaran yang telah dilakukan guru kurang menarik minat siswa dalam belajar. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk peningkatan representasi matematis dari pembelajaran snowball throwing yang diterapkan pada siswa kelas IV pada materi diagram batang. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalen Control Group Desain. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD di Kecamatan Conggeang, dengan sampel penelitian dari SD Negeri Narimbang I, SD Cidempet, dan SDN Kawungluwuk. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan strategi pembelajaran snowball throwing dan kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi soal tes uraian representasi matematis, lembar observasi perencanaan guru, lembar observasi pelaksanaan guru, dan lembar observasi keaktifan siswa. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan representasi matematis yang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran snowball throwing dengan gain 0,71 termasuk kategori tinggi. untuk pembelajaran konvensional perolehan gain 0,50 termasuk kategori sedang. Sehingga, dapat dikatakan strategi pembelajaran snowball throwing berpengaruh untuk meningkatkan representasi matematis siswa. Jadi dapat disimpulkan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi snowball throwing membantu siswa dalam membangun kemampuan representasi matematis, khususnya pada materi diagram batang. Siswa lebih mudah menuangkan ide dalam bentuk gambar, simbol, dan penjelasan. Proses belajar jadi lebih interaktif karena siswa saling bertukar informasi hasil pemikirannya secara langsung. Mathematics is an important subject, but in practice, students are unable to fully understand the material presented, especially bar diagrams. This includes understanding how to construct, read, and analyze bar diagrams. Teachers' instructional strategies have become less engaging. Therefore, this study aims to determine the improvement in mathematical representation through snowball throwing instruction applied to fourth-grade students in bar diagrams. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study population was fourth-grade elementary school students in Conggeang District, with samples from Narimbang I Elementary School, Cidempet Elementary School, and Kawungluwuk Elementary School. The experimental class used the snowball throwing learning strategy, while the control class used conventional learning. The instruments used included mathematical representation essay questions, teacher planning observation sheets, teacher implementation observation sheets, and student observation sheets. The results showed an increase in mathematical representation using the snowball throwing learning strategy, with a gain of 0.71, which is considered high. For conventional learning, the gain was 0.50, which is considered moderate. Therefore, it can be said that the snowball throwing learning strategy is effective in improving students' mathematical representation. Therefore, it can be concluded that this study shows that the snowball throwing strategy helps students develop mathematical representation skills, particularly in bar diagrams. Students find it easier to express ideas in the form of images, symbols, and explanations. The learning process becomes more interactive because students directly exchange information about their thoughts.
