    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui alasan guru memilih media timeline, proses perencanaan pembelajaran, pelaksanaan di kelas, serta kendala dan solusi yang dihadapi dalam penerapan media timeline pada pembelajaran IPS, khususnya materi sejarah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek penelitian guru IPS kelas VIII-I di SMPN 1 Cicalengka serta peserta didik pada kelas yang sama. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan media timeline didasarkan pada pertimbangan pedagogis, seperti kebutuhan siswa terhadap media visual yang interaktif dan kemampuannya dalam menyajikan materi sejarah secara runtut dan kontekstual. Guru merancang pembelajaran menggunakan model prosedural ASSURE yang mengintegrasikan aspek teknologi, pedagogi, dan konten secara seimbang. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran berlangsung interaktif dan efektif, tercermin dari keterlibatan aktif siswa melalui diskusi kelompok dan evaluasi. Kendala yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan sarana teknis serta waktu pembelajaran yang terbatas, namun dapat diatasi melalui strategi adaptif seperti pemanfaatan ruang multimedia dan pengelolaan waktu yang efisien. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa media timeline tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat bantu visual, tetapi juga sebagai instrumen strategis dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang aktif, kolaboratif, dan kontekstual sesuai dengan tuntutan pendidikan abad ke-21. This study aims to determine the reasons teachers chose timeline media, the lesson planning process, classroom implementation, and the obstacles and solutions encountered in implementing timeline media in social studies learning, particularly history. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with the subjects being a grade VIII-I social studies teacher at SMPN 1 Cicalengka and students in the same class. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that the selection of timeline media was based on pedagogical considerations, such as students' need for interactive visual media and their ability to present historical material coherently and contextually. Teachers designed the learning using the ASSURE procedural model, which integrates technology, pedagogy, and content in a balanced manner. The learning process was interactive and effective, reflected in students' active engagement through group discussions and evaluations. Challenges encountered included limited technical resources and limited learning time, but these were overcome through adaptive strategies such as utilizing multimedia space and efficient time management. These findings indicate that timeline media functions not only as a visual aid but also as a strategic instrument in creating active, collaborative, and contextual learning in accordance with the demands of 21st-century education.
