Abstract
Perkembangan teknologi digital, khususnya smartphone, telah memberikan dampak besar terhadap pola interaksi sosial, termasuk di lingkungan pendidikan. Salah satu fenomena yang muncul adalah perilaku phubbing, yaitu tindakan mengabaikan orang di sekitar karena terlalu fokus pada smartphone. Perilaku ini mulai marak terjadi di kalangan peserta didik tingkat SMP dan berpotensi mempengaruhi kualitas interaksi sosial dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perilaku phubbing terhadap interaksi sosial peserta didik dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) di SMP Kartika XIX-2 Bandung. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran angket berskala Likert kepada 71 peserta didik kelas VIII, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku phubbing memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap interaksi sosial. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa meskipun phubbing sering dianggap sebagai perilaku negatif yang menghambat komunikasi langsung, dalam konteks pembelajaran ia dapat menciptakan pola interaksi baru yang berbasis digital, seperti berbagi informasi melalui grup percakapan kelas dan kolaborasi daring. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya pemahaman terhadap dinamika perubahan pola interaksi sosial akibat teknologi, serta perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang adaptif dan responsif terhadap realitas digital agar interaksi antar peserta didik tetap berjalan secara efektif dan bermakna. The development of digital technology, particularly smartphones, has significantly impacted patterns of social interaction, including within educational settings. One emerging phenomenon is phubbing, which refers to the act of ignoring people around due to excessive focus on smartphones. This behavior has become increasingly common among junior high school students and has the potential to affect the quality of social interaction in the classroom. This study aims to examine the influence of phubbing behavior on students’ social interaction in Social Studies (IPS) learning at SMP Kartika XIX-2 Bandung. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire distributed to 71 eighth-grade students and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results revealed that phubbing behavior has a positive and significant influence on social interaction. This suggests that although phubbing is generally viewed as a negative behavior that disrupts direct communication, in the context of learning it can also foster new forms of digital based social interaction, such as sharing information through class group chats and collaborating online. These findings highlight the importance of understanding the changing dynamics of social interaction influenced by technology, and the need for adaptive and responsive instructional strategies to ensure that student interaction remains effective and meaningful in the digital era.
