    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan tes diagnostik model mental tipe Predict–Observe–Explain (POE) yang sudah divalidasi para ahli yang akan digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi profil model mental siswa pada konsep korosi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) yang dilaksanakan hingga tahap kelima, yaitu revisi desain. Rancangan awal produk berupa soal tes yang dilengkapi indikator soal, stimulus (gambar, fenomena, dan data pengamatan), serta jawaban yang menggambarkan model mental yang diharapkan. Soal dan jawaban disusun dengan mengintegrasikan tiga level representasi kimia (makroskopik, submikroskopik, dan simbolik). Validasi isi dilakukan oleh 4 dosen pendidikan kimia dan 1 dosen kimia murni melalui instrumen penilaian kesesuaian yang mencakup tiga aspek utama yaitu kesesuaian indikator soal dengan Capaian Pembelajaran Fase F, kesesuaian soal dengan indikator soal, serta kesesuaian jawaban dengan soal. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa indikator soal secara umum telah sesuai dengan Capaian Pembelajaran, namun masih terdapat indikator soal yang harus direvisi, yaitu indikator faktor yang mempengaruhi korosi. Selain itu, aspek kesesuaian soal dengan indikator soal dan kesesuaian jawaban dengan soal dinilai cukup baik, tetapi tetap memerlukan revisi untuk meningkatkan kualitas soal dan jawaban. Berdasarkan masukan tersebut, dilakukan revisi pada redaksi soal, penyusunan jawaban, dan penyesuaian stimulus agar lebih konkret serta konsisten dengan prinsip multipel representasi. Dengan demikian, diperoleh rancangan akhir tes diagnostik POE pada konsep korosi yang telah memenuhi kriteria berdasarkan saran-saran dari para ahli dan siap untuk tahap uji coba berikutnya. This study aims to develop a POE (Predict–Observe–Explain) type diagnostic test of students’ mental models, validated by experts, which will be used to identify students’ mental model profiles on the concept of corrosion. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, carried out up to the fifth stage, namely design revision. The initial product consisted of test items equipped with indicators, stimuli (images, phenomena, and observational data), and answers representing the expected mental models. The items and answers were constructed by integrating three levels of chemical representation: macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic. Content validation was conducted by four chemistry education lecturers and one pure chemistry lecturer using an assessment instrument covering three aspects: the alignment of item indicators with the Learning Outcomes for Phase F, the alignment of test items with their indicators, and the alignment of answers with the items. The results indicated that, in general, the item indicators were consistent with the Learning Outcomes, although revisions were required for the indicator related to factors influencing corrosion. Moreover, the alignment of test items with their indicators and answers with the items was considered fairly good but still required revisions to improve quality. Based on expert feedback, revisions were made to item wording, answer construction, and stimuli to ensure clarity and consistency with multiple representations. Thus, the final design of the POE-based diagnostic test on corrosion met the expert criteria and is ready for subsequent trials to identify students’ mental model profiles.
