    Abstract

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji keefektifan problem based learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik, serta hubungan antara kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif quasi experimental design dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 58 siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA Swasta Kabupaten Bandung. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah convenience sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berjumlah 20 butir soal kemampuan kognitif dan 12 butir soal keterampilan berpikir kreatif. Teknik analisis data menggunakan N-Gain, effect size, dan analisis regresi dan korelasi linear. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif. Untuk kelas eksperimen diperoleh N-Gain masing masing sebesar 0,83 dan 0,83 pada kategori tinggi, yang lebih besar peningkatannya dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol yaitu dengan masing-masing nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,35 dan 0,35, keduanya berada pada kategori sedang. Model problem based learning berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik dengan masing-masing nilai effect size yaitu 2,75 dan 2,86 dengan kategori tinggi. Kemampuan kognitif cukup berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,55 pada kategori sedang. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of problem-based learning in improving students’ cognitive ability and creative thinking skills, as well as the relationship between the two. The research method used was a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 58 eleventh-grade students from a private high school in Bandung Regency. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. The instruments consisted of 20 cognitive ability test items and 12 creative thinking skills test items. Data analysis techniques included N-Gain, effect size, and linear regression and correlation analysis. The results showed differences in the improvement of cognitive ability and creative thinking skills. In the experimental class, the N-Gain values were 0.83 and 0.83 respectively, both in the high category, which were higher than those in the control class with N-Gain values of 0.35 and 0.35 respectively, both in the medium category. The problem-based learning model had an impact on improving students’ cognitive ability and creative thinking skills, with effect size values of 2.75 and 2.86 respectively, both in the high category. Cognitive ability had a moderate influence on improving creative thinking skills, with a correlation coefficient of 0.55.
