    Abstract

The global automotive industry’s rapid technological transformation requires a fundamental shift in workforce competencies, moving from traditional mechanical approaches to digitally integrated systems. This study maps the priority scale of competencies in automotive engineering, with emphasis on motorcycle engineering, through the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP). A quantitative, descriptive-analytical approach was employed using assessments from six motorcycle engineering experts. To address uncertainty in subjective judgments, FAHP with Buckley’s geometric mean method was applied. The analysis identified hierarchical priorities in technical domains: Diagnostics (37.00%), Maintenance (31.73%), Chassis (13.36%), Engine (11.43%), and Electrical Systems (6.48%). For soft skills, the priorities were: Communication (43.24%), Collaboration (24.03%), Creativity (13.04%), Critical Thinking (13.02%), and Continuous Learning (6.67%). The prominence of diagnostics and communication reflects the industry’s increasing demand for systemic analytical abilities combined with strong interpersonal skills. A Consistency Ratio below 0.1 confirmed the reliability of expert evaluations. The combined weights of diagnostics-maintenance (68.73%) and communication-collaboration (67.27%) highlight the need for integrating technical-analytical expertise with interpersonal competencies. These findings indicate a paradigm shift from mastery of individual components to holistic diagnostic capabilities in the era of digitalized automotive systems. The study provides initial evidence to guide vocational curriculum reform, workforce development, and the recalibration of competency standards aligned with global industry dynamics.
