Abstract
Keterampilan menulis dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar merupakan bagian penting untuk kebutuhan berkomunikasi di kehidupan, namun pembelajaran bahasa Inggris jauh lebih sulit dibandingkan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia karena berbeda dalam pelafalan dan penulisannya. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan kesalahan penulisan pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan kurangnya huruf dalam suatu kosakata, penggunaan kapital, serta tanda baca sesuai dengan aturan kepenulisan. Salah satu alternatif penunjang pembelajaran mengenai keterampilan menulis adalah penggunaan media yang berfokus pada menulis. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan media yang dapat mendukung pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis. Jenis penelitian yang diterapkan yaitu studi yang dilaksanakan melalui Design and Development (D&D) dengan fokus pengembangan produk dan alat menggunakan model 4-D atau Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate serta pemerolehan data melalui validasi ahli materi, ahli bahasa, ahli media, dan ahli pembelajaran. Diperoleh hasil dari validator ahli materi sebesar 100%, validasi ahli bahasa sebesar 97,43%, validasi media sebesar 92,42%, dan validasi ahli pembelajaran sebesar 81,81% serta peningkatan keterampilan menulis peserta didik mendapat hasil rerata skor gain sebesar 0,4 yang terkategori sedang. Sehingga media MVPB dapat membantu proses pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris sekolah dasar fase C. Writing skills in English learning in elementary school are an important part of communication needs in life, but learning English is much more difficult than learning Indonesian because of differences in pronunciation and writing. This research is motivated by writing errors in English subjects, such as the lack of letters in a vocabulary, the use of capitalization, and punctuation according to writing rules. One alternative to support learning regarding writing skills is the use of media that focuses on writing. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop media that can support English learning, especially to improve writing skills. The type of research applied is a study carried out through Design and Development (D&D) with a focus on product and tool development using the 4-D model or Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate, and data acquisition through validation by material experts, linguists, media experts, and learning experts. The results obtained from the material expert validator were 100%, the language expert validation was 97.43%, the media validation was 92.42%, and the learning expert validation was 81.81%. The improvement in students' writing skills resulted in an average gain score of 0.4, which is categorized as moderate. Therefore, MVPB media can help the learning process in improving writing skills in the elementary school English subjects phase C.
