Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kemampuan kognitif siswa pada materi kalor. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi-experimental design dengan nonequivalent control group design yang melibatkan 59 siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA Kota Bandung. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah convenience sampling yang terdiri atas kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan model inkuiri terbimbing dan kelas kontrol menerapkan model discovery learning. Instrumen tes yang digunakan yaitu tes kemampuan kognitif siswa sebanyak 20 butir soal dan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis sebanyak 8 soal. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu N-Gain, uji t, effect size, uji korelasi, analisis regresi, dan uji determinasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada kelas eksperimen berturut-turut berada pada kategori tinggi dan sedang. Sedangkan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada kelas kontrol berada pada kategori sedang. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa model inkuiri terbimbing berdampak pada peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kritis yang dibuktikan dengan hasil effect size pada kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berpikir kritis termasuk kategori tinggi. Selain itu, pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan kognitif memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dibuktikan melalui uji determinasi. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning models on improving students' critical thinking skills and cognitive abilities in heat-related subjects. The research design used was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design involving 59 eleventh-grade students at a senior high school in Bandung. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling, consisting of an experimental class that applied the guided inquiry model and a control class that applied the discovery learning model. The test instruments used were a cognitive ability test consisting of 20 questions and a critical thinking skills test consisting of 8 questions. The data analysis used N-Gain, t-test, effect size, correlation test, regression analysis, and determination test. The results showed a difference in the improvement of cognitive ability and critical thinking skills between the experimental class and the control class. The improvement in cognitive ability and critical thinking skills in the experimental class was in the high and moderate categories, respectively. Meanwhile, the improvement in cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills in the control class was in the moderate category. These results indicate that the guided inquiry model has an impact on the improvement of cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills, as evidenced by the effect size results for cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills, which are in the high category. Additionally, this study shows that cognitive abilities influence the improvement of critical thinking skills, as evidenced by the determination test.
