    Abstract

    Pola asuh orang tua memiliki peran penting dalam pembentukan keterampilan sosial dan emosional anak usia dini. Salah satu pola asuh yang berdampak negatif adalah pola asuh neglectful, yaitu pola pengasuhan yang ditandai dengan rendahnya keterlibatan orang tua secara emosional dan fisik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pola asuh neglectful yang diindikasikan oleh orang tua serta dampaknya terhadap keterampilan regulasi emosi anak usia 5-6 tahun. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas dua anak berusia 5-6 tahun yang diasuh dengan indikasi pola asuh neglectful, orang tua dari anak tersebut, dan guru kelas tempat subjek bersekolah. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner terbuka, lembar observasi keterampilan regulasi emosi, dan pedoman wawancara semi terstruktur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua orang tua subjek menunjukkan ciri pola asuh neglectful yang meliputi kurangnya pengawasan dan perhatian, minimnya aturan, serta keterbatasan dalam kasih sayang dan dukungan emosional. Dampaknya kedua anak menunjukkan keterampilan regulasi emosi yang belum berkembang secara optimal, seperti kesulitan dalam menenangkan diri atau bertindak impulsif saat menghadapi tekanan, serta rendahnya kemampuan dalam berpikir positif terhadap tantangan. Pola asuh neglectful yang konsisten, terutama dalam bentuk keterlibatan dan komunikasi emosional yang rendah, menjadi faktor utama dalam lemahnya regulasi emosi anak. Rekomendasi penelitian ditujukan kepada orang tua, guru atau pendidik, dan peneliti selanjutnya, agar dapat memperhatikan pentingnya pola pengasuhan yang responsif dalam membentuk keterampilan regulasi emosi anak usia dini. ; Parenting style plays a crucial role in shaping young children’s social and emotional skills. One form of parenting with negative impacts is neglectful parenting, characterized by low emotional and physical involvement from parents. This study aims to describe the neglectful parenting patterns indicated by parents an their impact on the emotional regulation skills of children aged 5-6 years. The research used qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects were two early childhood students identified as receiving neglectful parenting, along with their parents and classroom teachers. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaries, emotional regulation observation sheets, and semi-structured interview guidelines. The results show that both subjects parent demonstrated characteristics of neglectful parenting, including a lack of supervision and attention, minimal household rules, and limited affection and emotional support. As a result, both children showed underdeveloped emotional regulation skills, such as difficulty in calming themselves, a tendency to withdraw or act impulsively under pressure, and a low capacity to think positively when facing challenges. Consistence neglectful parenting, especially in the form of low emotional involvement and communication, emerged as a major factor in the children’s weak emotional regulation. This study provides recommendations for parents, early childhood educators, and future reserachers to promote responsive parenting practices that foster children’s emotional regulation skills.
