Abstract
Vegetasi pohon di Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) memainkan peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem, baik dari aspek stabilisasi tanah, konservasi air, maupun keanekaragaman hayati. Analisis vegetasi pohon di DAS dapat dijadikan landasan informasi penting bagi pengembangan perkuliahan mitigasi bencana berbasis keanekeragaman flora. Dalam konteks pendidikan, pengembangan perkuliahan berbasis Citizen Science Project (CSP) dapat menjadi solusi pendekatan yang efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi lingkungan serta keterampilan komunikasi dan kolaborasi calon guru IPA. Melalui literasi lingkungan, komunikasi dan kolaborasi yang baik mahasiswa mampu menyelidiki, menganalisis, mengkomunikasikan dan berkolaborasi dengan tim untuk mengatasi masalah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perkuliahan mitigasi bencana berbasis CSP yang berfokus pada analisis vegetasi pohon di DAS untuk membekali literasi lingkungan, keterampilan komunikasi dan kolaborasi calon guru IPA. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed method exploratory sequential design. Implementasi program melibatkan 27 mahasiswa pendidikan IPA pada perkuliahan mitigasi bencana di Universitas Bengkulu. Literasi lingkungan diukur menggunakan instrumen tes pilihan ganda, essay dan angket. Keterampilan komunikasi dan kolaborasi diukur menggunakan instrumen angket. Teknik analisis data yang diterapkan adalah gain, uji beda, uji korelasi dan N-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) terdapat 27 jenis tumbuhan berhabitus pohon yang terkonfirmasi dapat menjadi tumbuhan mitigasi, 2) desain CSP yang dikembangkan dikenal dengan istilah BuPAcE, 3) strategi perkuliahan dengan desain BuPAcE mampu menarik minat dan respon mahasiswa, 4) Respon mahasiswa terhadap perkuliahan mitigasi bencana sangat positif, 5) terdapat perbedaan signifikan literasi lingkungan pada domain pengetahuan dan perilaku, 6) kemampuan komunikasi mahasiswa lisan dan tulisan menunjukkan hubungan positif dan 7) peningkatan keterampilan kolaborasi mahasiswa sangat baik. Kesimpulannya adalah program perkulihan mitigasi bencana berbasis CSP dapat meningkatkan literasi lingkungan, keterampilan komunikasi dan kolaborasi sebagai bekal mahasiswa IPA menjadi calon guru IPA yang kritis, adaptif dan berwawasan ekologis. Tree vegetation in Watershed Areas (DAS) plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, particularly in soil stabilization, water conservation, and biodiversity. The analysis of plant vegetation in these areas provides a critical information base for developing disaster mitigation courses rooted in floral diversity. In the educational context, a Citizen Science Project (CSP)-based approach offers an effective strategy for enhancing environmental literacy, as well as communication and collaboration skills among prospective science teachers. With improved literacy, communication, and collaboration, students are better prepared to investigate, analyze, communicate, and work in teams to address environmental issues. This study aims to develop a disaster mitigation course based on CSP, focusing on tree vegetation analysis in the Bengkulu watershed, to foster environmental literacy, communication, and collaboration among pre-service science teachers. Employing a mixed-method exploratory sequential design, the study involved 27 science education students enrolled in a disaster mitigation course at a university in Bengkulu Province. Environmental literacy was measured using multiple-choice tests, essays, and questionnaires, while communication and collaboration skills were assessed through questionnaires. Data analysis techniques included gain scores, difference tests, correlation analysis, and N-gain calculations. The results revealed that: (1) 27 tree species were identified as suitable for mitigation; (2) the developed CSP model is termed BuPAcE; (3) the BuPAcE-based course strategy successfully engaged students and generated strong interest; (4) student responses to the course were highly positive; (5) significant differences were found in environmental literacy domains of knowledge and behavior; (6) a positive correlation emerged between students’ oral and written communication skills; and (7) students’ collaboration skills showed substantial improvement. In conclusion, the CSP-based disaster mitigation course effectively enhances environmental literacy, communication, and collaboration, equipping prospective science teachers to become critical, adaptive, and ecologically minded educators.
