    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesalahan dan kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi matematis berdasarkan Teori Newman beserta faktor penyebab dari kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi matematis. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif denga pendekatan fenomologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung yang melibatkan 32 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui tes literasi matematis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi matematis menjadi lima tahapan berdasarkan Teori Newman yaitu kesulitan dalam membaca soal, kesulitan dalam memahami soal, kesulitan dalam transformasi, kesulitan dalam keterampilan proses, dan kesulitan dalam penulisan jawaban akhir. Faktor peneyebab kesulitan yang dialami siswa antara lain yaitu kurangnya latihan soal literasi dan keterbiasaan dengan soal esai, kurangnya pemahaman kontekstual dan pengalaman dengan soal cerita, kurang matang dalam pemahaman dan penggunaan konsep matematis, kurangnya keterampilan menulis sistematis dan menyampaikan argumentasi, manajemen waktu dan rasa panik, motivasi dan persiapan belajar yang kurang. This study aims to examine the mistakes and difficulties experienced by students in solving mathematical literacy problems based on Newman's Theory along with the causative factors of the difficulties experienced by students in solving mathematical literacy problems. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The subject of this study is grade VIII students at one of the State Junior High Schools in the city of Bandung involving 32 people. Data collection techniques through mathematical literacy tests and interviews. The results of the study show that the difficulties experienced by students in solving mathematical literacy problems are five stages based on Newman's Theory, namely difficulties in reading, difficulties in comprehenssion problems, difficulties in transformation, difficulties in process skills, and difficulties in encoding. The factors that cause the difficulties experienced by students include lack of practice in literacy questions and familiarity with essay questions, lack of contextual understanding and experience with story questions, lack of maturity in understanding and use of mathematical concepts, lack of systematic writing and argumentation skills, time management and panic, lack of motivation and preparation for learning.
