Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis siswa SD yang masih rendah sehingga perlu adanya pembelajaran matematika yang dapat mendorong siswa secara aktif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan bernalar dan komunikasi matematisnya. Salah satu pembelajaran yang berpotensi untuk mengarahkan siswa pada tujuan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis adalah pembelajaran dengan model situation-based learning bernuansa etnomatematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis siswa setelah melakukan pembelajaran dengan model SBL-Etnomatematika. Adapun 36 orang siswa kelas V SD dilibatkan sebagai subjek penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif descriptive research dan pre-experimental dengan desain one group pretest-pottest. Instrumen yang digunakkan berupa tes tertulis kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis serta lembar observasi aktivitas siswa. Adapun hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, meliputi: 1) desain modul ajar yang digunakan memuat capaian pembelajaran kelas V SD dan dirancang sesuai dengan sintaks model SBL yang memuat kontes budaya Sunda Nyawang Bulan Bunisari. Dalam pelaksanaannya, situasi budaya yang disajikan dalam pembelajaran mampu mendorong proses berpikir siswa secara lebih mendalam dan bermakna, aktif dalam kegiatan diskusi, aktif menyampaikan gagasan maupun ide matematika, meningkatkan antusiasme siswa untuk mempelajari konsep matematika melalui budaya di sekitarnya, dan mendorong siswa untuk lebih terlibat dalam melaksanakan seluruh tahapan pembelajaran dengan sangat baik sehingga memperoleh persentase penilaian aktivitas sebesar 91,6%; 2) model SBL-Etnomatematika berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap perolehan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa, 3) model SBL-Etnomatematika berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap perolehan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa, 4) model SBL-Etnomatematika efektif meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi matematis siswa pada kategori peningkatan sedang. This research was conducted to the low mathematical reasoning and communication skills of elementary school students, necessitating mathematics learning that can actively encourage students to improve their mathematical reasoning and communication skills. One learning method that has the potential to direct students towards the goal of improving mathematical reasoning and communication skills is Situation-Based Learning models. This research conducted aims to determine students' mathematical reasoning and communication abilities after learning through the Situation-Based Learning (SBL) with an ethnomatematics nuance. The Thirty-six of fifth-grade elementary school students were involved as research subjects. This study used a qualitative descriptive and pre-eksperimental with one group pretest-pottest design. The instruments used consist of a written test of mathematical reasoning and communication skills, as well as an observation sheet for student activities. The results obtained from the study include:1) the design of the teaching module used contains the learning outcomes of grade V elementary school and was designed according to SBL model’s syntax and contains the Sundanese cultural of Nyawang Bulan Bunisari. In its implementation, the cultural situation is able to encourage students' thinking processes more deeply and meaningfull, discuss actively, deliver their mathematical ideas actively, increasing student’s enthusiasm to study mathematical concepts, encourage the student to be more involved in carrying out all stages of learning properly with a percentage of 91,6%; 2) the SBL-Ethnomathematics model has a significant effect on the acquisition of students' mathematical reasoning abilities, 3) the SBL-Ethnomathematics model has a significant effect on the acquisition of students' mathematical communication abilities, 4) the SBL-Ethnomathematics model effectively improves students' mathematical reasoning and communication abilities in the moderate category.
