    Abstract

----- This study aims to (1) examine whether Instagram as a social media platform influences the self-acceptance of vocational high school (SMK) students, and (2) identify the factors in social media use that contribute to either the increase or decrease of students’ self-acceptance in Purwakarta Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with accidental sampling technique, involving a population of 122 students and a sample of 30 respondents drawn from five vocational schools in Purwakarta. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The findings revealed that (1) both the level of social media usage and self-acceptance among students were in the moderate category. A simple linear regression test yielded a significance value of 0.06 (p > 0.05), indicating that Instagram use does not have a significant effect on students’ self-acceptance. (2) The factors contributing to self-acceptance are more strongly influenced by students’ internal capacities, such as filtering information, forming independent perceptions, and managing emotions, as well as external factors including family support, social environment, and life experiences.
