Abstract
Mathematical problem-solving skill is an important skill that students need to solve math problems in a logical and organized way. The Flipped Classroom model is a learning method where students study the material at home first, then discuss and solve problems in class. The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach connects math with real-life situations. Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) is students' ability to manage their learning goals and evaluate their own learning. This study aims to find out the differences in the improvement of students’ mathematical problem-solving skill through the Flipped Classroom model with the RME approach, based on their SRL levels. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The sample consists of two eighth-grade classes with a total of 50 students from a public junior high school in Ciamis. The experimental class was taught using the Flipped Classroom model with the RME approach, while the control class was taught using the Direct Instruction model with a deductive approach. The instruments used were a mathematical problem-solving test and an SRL questionnaire. The results showed that: (1) there was a difference in the improvement of mathematical problem-solving skill between students who learned with the Flipped Classroom and those who learned with Direct Instruction; (2) there were differences based on SRL levels (high, medium, low); and (3) there was an interaction between learning model and SRL level on the improvement of students’ mathematical problem-solving skill. These results show that the Flipped Classroom model with the RME approach is effective in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills, especially when looking at their SRL levels. Keywords: Mathematical Problem-Solving Skill, Flipped Classroom, Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), Self-Regulated Learning (SRL).
