    Abstract

    Understanding of basic concepts depends on the mental models formed by students. Limited understanding can lower students' self-confidence. The purpose of this research is to provide an intervention solution through the use of Augmented Reality media to facilitate changes in mental models, which contribute to understanding basic concepts for reasoning and decision-making, and to boost students' self-efficacy in learning about the nervous system. This study used the Quasy Experimental design method with the research design in this study is the Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted 63 students. Implementation, the experimental class used AR media, while the control class used PowerPoint-displayed images. The research data was collected using a instrument test mental models (drawing-writing test) given before and after learning, Self- efficacy questionnaire after learning using AR media, observations of learning activities using observation sheets during learning, questionnaires on student responses to the use of AR media, and interview sheets with student representatives from the extreme data of the mental model test. The research results showed an change in students' mental model levels across all concepts, with varying degrees of improvement in each concept. The most common changes in mental model levels were reaching the D3/W3 level and reaching the expert mental model. Student self- efficacy after using AR media showed results with most students in the high category. Students demonstrated a positive response to the use of AR media in learning about the nervous system.
